Dear Eastminster Family,
What women and men do you believe God is calling to serve as
Elders and Deacons at Eastminster? Please pray about this, then
take the next step by promptly submitting their names to our
nominating Committee either via the E-news or by completing and
returning the form you recently received
in the mail.
Scripture says elders should tend the flock of God and be
examples to the flock(I Peter 5). The Presbyterian Church Book of
Order synthesizes biblical teaching saying church officers, should
be persons of strong faith, dedicated discipleship, and love of
Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Their manner of life should be a
demonstration of the Christian gospel in the church and in the
world.
Dont look for perfection. Look for lives that embody faith and
love. Dont look for someone who has all the answers. Look for
people who know they are unworthy, saved by grace, and who, in
grateful response, seek to glorify God. Then please submit their
name(s) and what you know of their service and witness.
Elder Steve Searcy, Chair of this years nominating Committee,
can be reached at [email protected].
Grace and Peace,
Brad

Needed: Letter LadiesDo you enjoy writing notes and letters? And
mailing them the old-fashioned
way? Then the Prison Ministry needs you to join a group of
Eastminster members already involved. This correspondence project
within the Evangelism and Mem-bership ministry seeks to match
Christian letter writers with incarcerated women in U.S. prisons
who are screened first for eligibility and interest. Requirements
are penning a note every other week, and desiring to share in
writing about the love and hope of Christ with these women in jail.
Questions? E-mail Annie Scott ([email protected]). Hebrews
13:3 says, Remember those in prison as if you were together with
them . . .

emergency shel-ter services to homeless children and their
families? Family Shelter on Two notch Road provides shelter for up
to 120 days for 15 families at a time. Currently, they have a
critical need for diapers of all sizes, particularly sizes 4 and 5.
Between now and May 31, bring diapers to boxes in Thompson Hall,
the CLC and the churchs main reception area.
Peanut Butter Sunday, May 24Summer is an important time to
remember your peanut butter! Children are
home from school and not receiving their school lunches. Many
families turn to Harvest Hope for additional assistance during the
summer. Please continue your support of the peanut butter program
at Eastminster and bring your jar(s) to church with you.
