Using the Room View Window

IntroductionThe Room View window uses a tabbed display to present theinformation about one selected room. This chapter describes the tabsand features of the Room View window.

Key Concepts

Room View WindowThe Room View presents information about a particular room. TheRoom View window is always present on the CIT5 desktop. Severaltabs may appear at the bottom of the Room View window, dependingon the user’s CIT5 access rights.

Figure 4-1 shows the Room View window with all available tabspresent and the A/C tab selected.

Regardless of the access rights set up for the user and the Room Viewtab selected, the upper part of the Room View (Figure 4-2) is the samefor all tabs. The Room View contains the room number (Room 1205)in the title bar, the Central Interface (CI) Network address (1:12:5),and a description if one was entered. Below the room description thename of the guest currently checked into the room (Mr. SamuelAdams) appears.

Table 4-1 describes the Room View Title Bar fields.

The actual room status of rented, occupancy, DND and MUR appearsas an icon. A colored icon indicates an active status, and an icon whichappears dimmed indicates inactive status. Figure 4-2 shows Room1205 rented and occupied, with DND and MUR not selected.

Air Conditioning (A/C) TabIn the Room View window, the A/C tab (Figure 4-1) represents athermostat in the room, shows Heating, Ventilating, and AirConditioning (HVAC) related data, and allows changing the targettemperature and HVAC mode. In addition, the room and terrace doorstatus (open or shut) appears if the system is configured to display thisinformation.

TargetTemperature

Allows you set a new target temperature. Click the Apply buttonto send the new target temperature to the thermostat.

AC Mode

Fan Speed

Displays the AC Mode which is typically in AUTO. The AUTOmode automatically controls the AC Mode and Fan Speed tomaintain the desired target temperature. For manual control,select the desired AC Mode and Fan Speed, then click Apply.

Humidity Displays the current room humidity.

Temperature Displays the current room temperature.

AC Status Displays the current status of the A/C.

Door Status Displays the current status of the room door(s).

Trend-History TabIn the Room View window, the Trend-History tab shows the history ofthe room status and HVAC related parameters for a certain date andtime range. Left-clicking on a graph displays a legend of the colorcodes used. Figure 4-4 shows a typical Trend-History tab.

Rent Graph Shows Rental, Occupancy and Balcony door status forthe room.

Indicates room was rented.

Indicates room was occupied.

Indicates lanai door open.

AC Mode Graph Shows the AC Mode.

Green Trace Indicates which AC Mode is selected for the room(Fixed Fan, Auto or Off).

Black Trace Indicates Chilled/Hot water temperature informationwas not available during that time period if a black traceis superimposed over the AC Mode green trace.

HVAC ControllerMode Graph

Indicates the Fan speed depending on the verticalplacement of the trace.

Indicates Heating.

Indicates Cooling.

Indicates Neutral.

3 Indicates High.

2 Indicates Medium.

1 Indicates Low.

0 Indicates Off.

Target ControlBand Graph

Shows the target control band and the measured roomtemperature. The room controller maintains roomtemperature within the target control band. If an outsidetemperature sensor is installed, the measured outsidetemperature is displayed. If the system is configured tocalculate energy savings (ETM mode), a brown tracealong the time axis indicates the time ETM mode wasactive.

Indicates target control band.

Indicates measured room temperature.

Indicates outside temperature.

Buttons Changes the displayed data.

<< >> Changes the displayed data time by 6 hours.

< > Changes the displayed data time by 1 hour.

Date Opens a calendar to select the trend history date.

Zoom Selects the time scale used for Trend-History Graphs.Choose from 6 hrs, 12 hrs, 1 day, 3 days or 1 week.

Diagnostic TabIn the Room View window, the room Diagnostic tab (Figure 4-5)shows the hardware configuration information of a specific room. Usethe Diagnostic tab typically to obtain the software version loaded inthe room controller. Consult a Johnson Controls application engineerfor additional information.

Alarm TabIn the Room View window, the Alarm tab (Figure 4-6) shows thehistory of all alarm conditions that have occurred for the selectedroom.

Only a percentage of the alarms associated with the room appear whenthis window is first opened. Use the More button to download andshow additional alarms. When the More button appears dimmed, allalarm conditions that occurred between the selected dates have beendisplayed. Table 4-4 describes the Alarm tab fields.

Buttons

Query Queries the alarms for a certain time span. Enter thedate range for the query and only the alarms thatoccurred between those dates are displayed.

More Downloads and shows additional alarms. When theMore button appears dimmed, all alarm conditionsthat occurred between the selected dates have beendisplayed.

Pop-up Menu Contains additional options to view the alarms and tocreate alarm reports. Open the pop-up menu byright-clicking anywhere in the window.

Hide these Removes an alarm from the list. The alarm is notdeleted, just hidden. Click on the alarm to highlight,then select Hide these.

Unhide All Restores all hidden alarms.

Details Opens a window showing detailed information aboutthe alarm. This information includes the time thealarm occurred or cleared the network address of thedevice creating the alarm and a description of thealarm.

Jump to Opens a window that allows you to jump to theprevious or the next occurrence of that alarm.

Report Creates a printable report, with or without details forthe alarm.

In-room Local Area Network (ILAN) TabIn the Room View window, the ILAN tab interconnects controlleddevices within a room. Selecting the ILAN tab (Figure 4-7) displays alist of ILAN devices present in this room, along with the ILANaddress of the device and software version loaded into the device.

The status symbol next to the device name indicates thecommunication status of the device. Table 4-5 describes the ILAN tabfields.

Maintenance TabIn the Room View window, the Maintenance tab (Figure 4-8) allowsyou to view and change Room Controller parameter values.

Note: Changing a room controller parameter here changes thevalue stored in nonvolatile memory in the room controller. However, ifthe room controller is subsequently replaced, change the parameter tothe new value again.

Displays date and time currently stored in the roomcontroller.

Room Number Displays the room number assigned to a particular roomthat overrides the value set in the Engineered Binary File(EBF) file.

I O Map Overrides the value set in the EBF file that is stored in theroom controller.

Suite ID Lists rooms with the same Suite ID.

Target Temp Limits Displays minimum and maximum Target Temperaturevalues.

Unrented TargetTemp

Displays minimum and maximum Unrented TargetTemperature values.

Pipe Water Temp Forces pipe water temperature indication to Hot, Cold, orDead-Band if actual pipe water temperature is unknowndue to temperature sensor failure.

Night Setback Displays the temperature control band used by the roomcontroller at night. By default, the Night Setback is ineffect between 1 A.M. and 5 A.M. Consult anJohnson Controls applications engineer to change thesetimes.

Displays the thermostat target temperature when a guestchecks into a room.

Frontdesk TabIn the Room View window, the Frontdesk tab (Figure 4-11) manuallychecks in and checks out guests. Typically, guest check in and checkout is controlled by the Property Management System (PMS). ThePMS interfaces with the Central Interface Service (CIS) via a serialconnection and sends check-in and check-out requests to the CISautomatically.

The room Do-Not-Disturb (DND), Make-up-Room (MUR), andMessage Waiting status are indicated by the symbol color. A colorsymbol indicates an active status. These indications are normallycontrolled automatically by the system, and the Toggle buttons are notused. However, if these indications are not automatically controlled,press the Toggle button to toggle the status.

Service TabIn the Room View window, the Service tab (Figure 4-12) indicates theservice status of the room.

DND

Do-not-DisturbToggle Button

Indicates DND status for the room. The status is normallycontrolled by the DND buttons on a room controller, DoorPlate, Touchscreen Console, or Table Top Control Panel.If those devices are not present, the status can bechanged by clicking the Toggle button.

Mini-bar

Door Sensor Indicates the mini-bar door status if a room is equippedwith a mini-bar with a door sensor. If the icon is colored,the door sensor indicates that the mini-bar door wasopened.

Mini-bar LockToggle Button

Virtually locks the mini-bar. If the mini-bar door is openedby the guest, an alarm appears in the CIT5 Alarm windowindicating that the Mini-bar Lock was violated for theparticular room.

ServiceRequestToggle Button

Turns on the first time the door is opened on a recentlyrestocked mini-bar. This notifies housekeeping themini-bar was opened. A special door opening sequence(opening and closing the door three times rapidly) used byhousekeeping indicates when the mini-bar has beenserviced.

Butler

Butler CallToggle Button

Activates the Butler call if the room is equipped with adedicated button or switch for the purpose of requesting abutler or room service. Pressing the Toggle button clearsthe request.

MUR

Make-up-RoomToggle Button

Indicates MUR status for the room. The status is normallycontrolled by the MUR buttons on a room controller, DoorPlate, Touchscreen Console, or Table Top Control Panel.If those devices are not present, the status can bechanged by clicking the Toggle button.

Smoke

Smoke Sensor Monitors the output contact if the room is equipped with asmoke sensor. If the sensor indicates smoke, this iconbecomes colored. Typically a CIS alarm also activates.

Alarm CounterClear Button

Resets the Smoke Sensor Alarm Counter.

Safe

Door Sensor Displays the door status if the room safe is equipped witha door sensor.
