The Youth Church Division held a Training and Development Workshop on January 7, 2012. Youth Church Leaders and Assistants had a great time learning new techniques and ways to increase learning and how to get the children excited about God. Sister Patricia Smith gave an overview of the workshop and the Mission Statement. Sister Rhonda Ryan gave a great presentation on how to teach Bible Stories and how to help children remember memory verses. Sister Barbara Smith had everyone engaged in

a group activity that was really fun. Sister Alyshia Harris spoke on how to redirect and manage behavior. This workshop was very informative and fun. Quindon Nolton- Youth Church Reporter

A Life of Giving

Most people think of Christian stewardship in terms of money rather than in terms of life. The prevailing attitudes and conceptions many people have about it are all wrong. There are churches and Church leaders who mistakenly believe that all their problems would be solved if they had enough money. Nothing is further from the truth. The fact of the matter is stewardship deals with people, not purses. The teachings of both the Old and New Testaments affirms this.

The principal obligation of the church today, with respect to Christian financial stewardship, is to clarify its position on a life of giving. When people view tithing and Christian Stewardship as fulfillment of their covenant with God, they also view giving as a lifetime pattern. A life of giving ultimately leads us into a life of faith, excitement, and commitment to the Lord that results in a person’s life mirroring God’s willingness to give His most precious gift to oth-ers, Jesus Christ, as a ransom for our sins (John 3:16, KJV). In turn, we receive a commitment from God.

When God gets us, He gets our property. For example, when Jesus got Peter, He also got Peter’s boat. He got the lad’s lunch with which to feed the multitude. When God gets a person with a car, He also gets a car to be used in His service. When He gets a man or woman of talent, He gets talent to be employed in the inter-est of His kingdom. When God gets a person with wealth, He gets wealth to be used in furthering the Christian Church. When God gets us, we realize we are not our own. We become Christ’s stewards when He becomes our Lord, the authority in and ruler of our lives. To acknowledge the Lordship of Christ means, we are willing to accept the principles of stewardship as the hallmark of our commitment to a life of giving.

A Christian who has not adopted a life of giving is a contradiction. An individual who has said he or she is committed to Christ but has not demonstrated the joy of giving in their lives is not being true to self or Savior. An individual who says, “Christ is my guide” and then refuses to develop a life of giving denies—as did Peter when Jesus needed him the most—that God is most important in his or her life.

Dedicating oneself to a life of giving is serious business. It is a commitment of a person’s being, body, and possessions to God. Most of us play around at being committed, but a life of giving means we have stopped playing at being in God’s image and truly are working toward achieving that end. -The Joy of Giving More Than Enough By Gregory G.M. Ingram

Church Sign Update

The deposit has been made and the sign ordered. The contractor is in the pro-cess of applying for a permit and attending to other details to get the sign erected. We look forward to it being installed within the next several weeks. We are still accepting donations to help with the cost of the sign, installation, and other paperwork necessities, and if you would like to make a contribution , we ask that you see Sister Lula Love. We have asked each family to donate one hundred dollars ($100.00) or whatever you can give to bless a next step to achieving this goal.

Thank you to:

Alverdean and Jermaine Tindell $100.00

Thank you for blessing us.
