• AMoRE = System-level simulation (software on Linux PC)
– Multi-cell
– Multi-user
– Fairly accurate PHY/MAC Models
• Capability to support real live applications
– Streaming, Web Browsing, Gaming, VoIP, FTP, MMS, etc.
– Bi-directional (simultaneous Downlink & Uplink simulation)
– E2E Radio protocol stack
– Simulation in real-time
• Online visualization
– e.g. resource allocation, channel conditionperformance parameters
– fast updates down to TTI basis
– interactive reconfiguration of system parameters
• Utilization of AMoRE
– for technology and feature research, demo and training

AMoRE Strengths
Showcases demonstrations of newtechnologies or system features toprovide an early perception of their effect
Provides explanation about the internalworking and resulting impacts of newsystem features to radio experts
It helps to gain early experience on
implementation, performance impactsand dependencies of new systemfeatures

AMoRE Constraints
• Cellular structure: regular hexagonal grid
• Focus on single cell, surrounding cellsmodelled as synthetic interference sources
• DL interference: full load (100%),or fractional load at random alloc. pattern
• UL interference: same user distributionand transmission pattern as in the target cell(with random time offset between cells)
• Max. 20 users in the target cell, typically only 10 or less for real-time execution
• No mobility between cells
• No state changes (all users in connected state)
• Various traffic types: full buffer (infinite ftp transmission),CBR at configurable packet size and rate, random bursts (exponential packet size and arrival rate) etc.
• Only U-plane traffic on shared channels (PDSCH, PUSCH)
• Control channel load modelled as fixed overhead(and without transmission errors)

Further characteristics and restrictions of AMoRE
• Not fully aligned with standard or NSN product implementation in all details:
– models are simplified, sometimes even idealized – product configuration parameters may be different or missing
– emphasis on operation principles and their resulting qualitative impacts, including dynamic (cross-feature and cross-layer) interactions
• Focus on system-level impacts of L1 and L2 features (PHY and MAC)
– Link-level behaviour makes use of pre-computed lookup tables
• Snapshot view
– Instantaneous behaviour and performance under current conditions
– Not: long-term statistics over time or over different user placements
Instructive value of AMoRE comes from
• interactive change of system parameters or operating conditions
• and immediate observation of comparative system behaviour
