Silva & Cía. was founded by Patricio Silva
and Juan Pablo Silva in response to Chile’s
sustained economic growth and insertion in
global markets in the early eighties, in order to
meet the thriving need for Intellectual Property
services of domestic as well as international
companies.
Shortly after its incorporation, Silva & Cía.
opened its Internet and new technologies
Department thereby leading the development
of this practice in Chile. The Firm registered
the first Web page in the country, actively
collaborated in the preparation of the current
Nic Chile Rules and Regulations for domain
names conflict resolution and it was a pioneer
in legal counseling for the implementation of
the electronic signature.

1. “Un Techo para Chile” FoundationThe Firm provides consultancy and registration services of their trademarks in Chile and abroad. Due to their expansion plans, Silva & Cía. has filed trademark registration requests for “Un Techo para mi País” in Belize, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, and Costa Rica, among others; along with legal counseling and license contract drafting.
2. “Desafío Levantemos Chile” FoundationThis foundation was created after the February 27, 2010 earthquake and tsunami, in order to support recon-struction of the coastal communities that resulted most affected by them. Silva & Cía has provided Intel-lectual Property assistance for this project as well as for other social projects to which they have recently expanded.
3. Central Library for the Blind Our Firm also does pro-bono work for this Library by reviewing their license contracts and related copyright matters in order to facilitate access to different intellectual works created by blind people.
4. Corporación FutronoLegal advice, trademark and Internet domain name registration and protection for this organization whose
corporate purpose is to contribute to the cultural and social development of the Futrono commune and its
whereabouts, located in the XIV Region of Chile, de los Ríos.
