Design is function. To prove it, designer Pia Törnell created Convito. Seeking inspiration in the kitchens of some of Sweden’s finest restaurateurs, she designed tableware which is as perfectly suited to a breakfast croissant

as to a dinner party with family and friends. Different shapes that you can combine and vary. For everyone who wants to offer more than what is simply on the menu.

A corona is a ring of light that is created when the light from the moon is bent by minute droplets of water. That’s the scientific definition. But when Jonas Bohlin talks about the moon’s corona he is more interested in its spectacle

– the magnetic attraction of the moon and the beauty of the halo of light around this heavenly body. Jonas is especially fascinated by the silver-white glow of the almost monochrome corona; the pure light. It is a natural

phenomenon in porcelain and genuine platinum, and a beautiful attempt to capture the moon and place it on the dinner table.

Ever since 1726 Rörstrand has been supplying the Swedish Royal Court and Swedish homes alike with exquisitely designed porcelain for both special occasions and everyday dining.

The inspiration for Rörstrand´s Official Wedding Series originates from an existing pattern at Drottningholm Palace.

The decoration consists of four well-known national symbols; the Crown of Sweden´s Heir Apparent, the Pole Star, the Four-Leaf Clover and a stylised Flower. The Official Wedding Series combines timeless tradition

with its own distinctive personality, and consists of eight carefully selected pieces in regal seraphim blue and genuine gold. Hand Washing is recommended.

The Nobel dinner service was first used for the Nobel prize’s 90th anniversary dinner in 1991. Inaugurated by Her Majesty the King and the Queen of Sweden and 1,300 invited guests at the Nobel dinner in

Blå Hallen, Stockholm. The dinner service is an excellent example of high quality Swedish design in which a combination of exquisite designs using bone china results in a beautiful dinner table.

The Nobel dinner service received the ‘Excellent Swedish Design’ award in 1992 from the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design [Föreningen Svensk Form].

The colours on the plates symbolise the four seasons, the continents and the first Nobel prize.

Ostindia, first introduced in 1932, was inspired by a fragment of china salvaged from the cargo hold of the Swedish East Indiaman Götheborg, which sank in 1745.

It remains one of Rörstrand’s best selling designs and was recently honoured with the accolade “Service of the Century” in Sweden.

the number five and the interval between the first and the fifth notes in a scale. It is not, however, only associated with music as it also gives a description of the purpose of the dinner service

Mon Amie (French for “my friend”) made its debut back in the 1950s, when Marianne Westman created the now classic decorative pattern one rainy Midsummer Eve.

Over the years the blue floral decoration has become something of an icon for Rörstrand. Marianne was a true pioneer within her genre and has even been called “the mother of Swedish porcelain”.
