What’s in a Name – Cephalopoda Octopoda Octopodidae Cephalopo da Octopoda Octopodid ae This is a very literal description for Octopus, translated from latin, meaning “Head” (cephalo-) “Feet” (-poda) and their “Eight” (octo-) “limbs” (-poda). From early times, humans have been fascinated with octopus. The fastest marine invertebrate, they are known for excreting ink (consisting of pure melanin), and can fit their entire body through an opening the size of their beak. Some octopus can fly through the air for a distance of up to 50 meters via jet propulsion. Octopus have 3 hearts, 9 brains, and copper-based bloodstreams. Ancho Chiles The sauce is made from Ancho chiles which are the dried form of Poblano peppers. The word ancho means "wide" in English, while Poblano refers to the state of Puebla in central Mexico where Poblano peppers originate. Haynes Creek Vineyard is located on the eastern flank of Osoyoos Lake. The property was originally farmed with stone fruit orchards, which easily produced ripe fruit in the hot summers. Vines were planted there in 2007.
