2019 Nuffield International Scholarship Application Form Questions

The application form is an online process. You are not able to save a half-finished application form and return to it later, therefore, it is recommended that you develop your responses to the written questions in this Word document first. Once you are satisfied with your responses, copy and paste the information into the online form.

You can edit a submitted response by clicking on the link that you are sent by email once your application is submitted.

Your application involves:

1. Completing and submitting this application form online. A copy of your responses will be sent to the email you provide below.

2. Upload your CV (English) - see last question

About the Nuffield International Scholarship

Scholarships are financially supported by industry businesses, associations and individuals, mainly from the private sector. Some scholarships have additional criteria for candidates to meet - including geography, sector and/or study topics. Scholarships marked with * are available subject to funding being confirmed. Nuffield will consider you for all scholarships that you meet criteria for, in addition to the scholarship(s) that you apply for.

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate significant knowledge of, and engagement with their topic, including how the wider industry will benefit from the investment in you.

Q8: SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION - Please select the Scholarship(s) that you wish to apply for. You can apply for more than one scholarship, assuming you meet the criteria.

Q9: RESEARCH TOPIC - Describe the topic that you wish to research through a Nuffield Farming Scholarship. Include background information on the problems and opportunities that you intend to explore and address (Limit of 250 words)

Q10: INDUSTRY ALIGNMENT - In your own words, how does your proposed research topic align with your industry’s current strategic direction and research priorities? Please give examples of linkages between your study and the current knowledge and priorities of your industry. (Limit of 250 words)

REFEREESThe applicant must insert details of two (2) referees. These referees will be contacted by selection panel members and asked to provide detailed information on the applicant.Applicants MUST contact referees to inform them that they are being nominated.Referees must NOT be family members, employees or employers.Ideally, they will have a good understanding of the applicant and their capacity to undertake the Scholarship and research and be able to discuss the wider industry implications of the Scholarship if awarded.

Please tick all the boxes below to confirm understanding of the scholarship requirements I can attend the Contemporary Scholars Conference in the USA in March 2019 I can attend one, six-week Global Focus Program in either March/April or June/July 2019 I can undertake at least eight weeks of individual research, to be completed by October 2020 I can complete a 10,000 word written report of the study findings by November 2020 I will participate in the mentoring program, including completing the monthly reflections

report. I am committed to the communication my research results within my industry through

written and verbal presentations. I will contribute as an ongoing active member of the Nuffield network to orient Nuffield
