Raisya Break in to use for the first time The robber broke in the car.

Break out to escape He tried to break out of his captive.

Break down

to have a failure

He had a mental break down earlier. (You used the verb as a noun, perhaps this: He eventually lost control of himself and broke down.)

This advertisement is humorous because they were explaining that their water is clean by saying it was untouched by man. Which means that it’s still pure. Like a women who hadn’t been stained by men.

NAME: Mr. LuisMargot Robbie is wearing a flawless pure white gown which she probably has taken from one of her apartment’s drape. The off-shoulder kind-of-sleeve is reminiscent of the chords they put on valances of curtains in the early 50s, or perhaps she took them from an old Christmas tree décor whose motif was White-Christmas.

The upper cut of the dress was tubeless-like but covering any cleavage or inappropriate skin. However, the whiteness of the fabric made it look like she is a flat photograph and in turn make her look like flat-chested.

On her right hand is a cylindrical purse so small one could not imagine what she can put into it, or whether it is used as a drum like the Korean miniature souvenir drum, that she’d play when applauding a performance on stage.

The wrap of the lower part of the gown looks like a white rose or a squid that begins to take a camouflage by wrapping itself.

At the Oscars, Saorise Ronan wore an unfinished dress because she probably inputted her order late to the designer. It was a sleeveless, pale, pink fabric with a giant bow in the back. Her color coordinated pumps helped her skin to look paler than the fabric.

The fabric getting dragged as she walks and still having the giant bow in the back too, made it much more of a mess than it already was. How the front hem of her dress is shorter than the back, as she tried to show her pumps

Sally Hawkins went to the swamp before she went to the Oscars. She clearly ran out of items to put on her waist so she decided to take a plain, small rope.

The color of her dress matched her gloomy and effortless dress. The pads on her shoulder pointed out her skinny figure and complimented the mess on the hem of the dress.

Emma stone’s designer ran out of fabric to make Emma’s outfit and could probably be colorblind. She was too lazy to get a dress and took her old office outfit instead.

The pink doesn’t match with the red and her hair doesn’t help her mess.

What makes a good commentary?

While no two commentaries on a text should be the same and while each should reflect the student’s own interpretation and ‘take’ on the text, there are key skills that everyone should apply, as indicated by the success criteria on page 6.

Now read this task and the passage that follows it:

1 The passage below describes the writer’s experience in Burma when he was serving as a police officer at a time when the British ruled the country. He has been ordered to deal with a possible threat posed by an elephant. (a) Comment on the style and language of the passage.

Raisya Landlord or Landlady

A landlord is a person, specifically a man who rents apartments, land or building to tenants.

A landlady is a person, especially a woman who also rents apartments to tenants.

My landlord would be so mad if he sees this.

Our landlady allows us to let people stay in our rooms for two days only.

Cleaning lady

A cleaning lady is a person, stereotyped as only women, who cleans certain places as a job. Later after the 1970s, the gender biased word provided another option that was “a cleaner.” But still, people still uses “cleaning lady” more than “cleaner.”

The cleaning lady at my school is so nice.

Isn’t it weird that they don’t have a word for a male cleaner?

Sometimes some people would also be honest and talk about how she talks. Stereotyped as always, people would often take Betawi’s culture as, Aurel explained; “Loud, obnoxious, and cocky.” But that’s the complete opposite of what she’s like or a lotof other people in her culture are, but of course everyone make mistakes, including her.

Recently, she’s been called out bythe teachers about some words she uses when talking. That of course correlates with her culture.Betawi’s language is very close with formal Indonesian language. But because of the Bahasa evolution even formal Betawi language is taken very informal now. Yes, it is her culture that needs to be supported and embraced but with the way things are now, she needed to change her ways in order to respect others in daily formal language.
