3. City Housing Strategy ReviewGillian Campbell gave a presentation on the City Housing Strategy Review which is now underway (presentation attached). The presentation gave the background on the review, the current housing stock within Edinburgh and the future challenges the Council faces. A seminar on older people housing has helped to inform the review. One of the challenges is improving the quality of the current and new housing stock, making it more energy efficient and existing stock being made as adaptable as possible. Another challenge is the high disrepair figures within the private sector rental. The Scottish Government are consulting on standards for the private rental sector.

Some issues that the Group discussed were land use, linking with partners and looking at collective needs and how to progress quickly agreement with common stair repairs/problems.

4. Psychological Therapies for older peopleDr Donna Gilroy and Dr Belinda Hacking gave a presentation on psychological therapy provision for older people within the Lothian area (presentation attached). Donna explained the background and strategic context of the service. She also noted the under-diagnosis and under-referral of older people to the service and explained the 5 Tiers of Intervention provided by the service. CBT is the most commonly used therapy for older people.

It was suggested that Belinda Hacking meet with Andy Shanks to discuss dementia and carers noticing changes in behaviour.

5. Care at Home Commissioning PlanMaggie Scrugham gave a presentation on the Commissioning Plan. The new plan will address the current problems in the old contract. The new contract will only be for people over 65 with Disabilities having a separate care at home contract. Sheltered housing will also no longer be within the contract. The current challenges include shortfall in 4,500-5,000 hours per week, delayed discharge, workforce availability, demands at peak time and increase in demand.

6. Making it ClearJacquie Pentland gave a presentation on the Making It Clear project. This was a 3 year project sponsored by EVOC, Council and NHS
