The Gladiators are now keen to read some more of James Patterson’s books. We have had many discussions about the meaning of the quotes at the start of the chapters and we have considered why the authors have started each chapter with a quote. After a group discussion, Reece, Caitlin, Safi, Kobe, Leo and Sophie shared the following ideas: The quotes hint at what the chapter may be about. The quotes prepare the reader for a change in mood or circumstance. Things do not always go to plan for our hero. The quotes show us how much Isaiah is learning about himself and others.

‘Word of Mouse’ – Reading Gladiator Challenge 1

The Bellbird Primary School

Above are the Year 4 Reading Gladiators pictured in front of a display of their first reading challenge for the Reading Gladiator Programme.

The Gladiators are now keen to read some more of James Patterson’s books.

We have had many discussions about the meaning of the quotes at the start of the chapters and we have considered why the authors have started each chapter with a quote. After a group discussion, Reece, Caitlin, Safi, Kobe, Leo and Sophie shared the following ideas:

The Gladiators have also written a letter to our local MP inviting her to visit our school and officially open our new whole school library.

They are now looking forward to their next reading challenge.
