Orientation

Button Orientation

1. Along top edge of device are the Headphone Jack, Microphone, and Power button.2. Along right edge are the Volume Toggle and Side Selector Switch. 3. The Home button is located below the screen.4. A Front Facing Camera is located above screen.5. A Rear Facing Camera is located in the upper right side on the back.6. The Charger Port is located along the bottom edge.7. The iPad will turn off when less than 10% of power is remaining.8. Use a soft cloth without Glass Cleaner to clean the screen.

Turning On Device

1. Press the Power button for 3 seconds.2. A small Apple Logo appears on the screen.3. Slide the Unlock Slider to the right.

Sleep Mode

1. Quickly press the Power button.2. To wake, press the Power button or the Home button.3. Slide the Unlock Slider to the right.

Turning Off Device

1. Press and hold the Power button for 4 seconds.2. Slide the Red Arrow to the right.

Zoom

1. Quickly press the Home button three times.2. Double tap the screen with three fingers to activate Zoom.3. Double-tap and slide three fingers upwards to Zoom In.4. Double-tap and slide three fingers downwards to Zoom Out.5. Drag three fingers to Move around the Screen.

Home screen

1. After the iPad is unlocked, the Home screen appears with all of the apps.2. Swipe a single finger towards left or right to see additional Home screens.3. The blank screen with a small search box is the Search screen.4. Touch an app to Open.5. Press the Home button to return to the Home screen.

Multi-tasking

1. An app is still opened even after returning to the Home screen.2. Press the Home button twice.3. The running applications will appear.4. To see additional apps, swipe single finger to the left or right.5. To open the app tap it once.

Closing Apps

1. Press the Home button twice.2. The running applications will appear.3. Single finger flick up to close each open application.4. Press the Home button when finished.

Rearranging Home Screen Apps

1. Touch and hold any app until all apps begin to jiggle.2. Drag desired app to its new location.3. To move an app to different Home screen, drag app towards right or left edge of

screen and hold until a different Home screen appears.

Creating App Folders

1. Touch and hold any app until all apps begin to jiggle.2. Hold and drag desired app onto another desired app.3. A new screen appears with the two apps appearing together.4. The folder is automatically given a name.5. Drag another app onto folder to add app to the folder.6. To remove app from folder, open folder, and touch and drag app outside of folder.7. After removing all apps from folder, the folder automatically disappears.8. Press the Home button to return to Home screen.

iBooks

Reading in iBooks

1. Tap or swipe towards right or left margins to turn pages.2. Try turning pages with your thumbs.3. Double tap an image for it to appear larger on screen.

Table of Contents

1. Touch the screen.2. Touch the List icon.3. Touch section.

Screen Settings

1. Touch the Sun icon and adjust Brightness.2. Tap the aA icon, then increase and decrease Font Size.3. Tap the aA icon, then ‘Fonts’ to change Font Style and Background.

Bookmarks

1. Tap the upper right hand corner of page to Add Bookmark.2. A Red Ribbon appears.3. To view Bookmarks, tap the List icon, then the Bookmarks icon.

VoiceOver

1. Quickly press the Home button 3 times.2. Touch the Turn VoiceOver On option.3. Zoom and VoiceOver cannot be on at same time. 4. The black rectangle is the VoiceOver Cursor. 5. VoiceOver describes aloud what the Cursor is currently highlighting. 6. Flick single finger left or right to move Cursor. 7. Double tap the screen to select an item.

Reading with VoiceOver

1. Move the VoiceOver Cursor until VoiceOver begins reading page.2. At times, VoiceOver will automatically advance to next page and continue reading.3. To read from top of page, flick two fingers upwards.4. To read from current Cursor position, flick two fingers downwards.5. To move to previous or next page, flick three fingers towards left or right margins.6. To start and stop VoiceOver, tap the screen with two fingers.

Notes

Adding New Note

1. Touch the paper with pencil icon in the top right corner for a new note.2. Begin typing note using the On-screen keyboard.3. Touch the Numbers key for numbers and additional punctuation keys.4. Within the Numbers Keyboard, press the More Symbols key for additional symbols.5. Touch the ABC key to return to the alphabet.6. Touch the Up Arrow key to Capitalize letters.7. Touch the X key to Delete letters to the left.8. Touch the Return key to move to next line.9. When finished typing a note, touch the Done icon.

Searching for Notes

1. Tap the Notes icon.2. Tap the desired note to open.3. If you have numerous note you can touch in the search box and type in the name of

the note you are looking for.

Editing notes

1. Open note.2. Tap the screen to place cursor at specific location.3. Tap two fingers twice on desired word to edit.4. Drag the highlights at both ends to highlight surrounding words.5. Touch the Copy option to copy highlighted text.6. To Paste copied text, touch and hold single finger and touch the Paste option.7. Touch the Done icon when finished.

Spellcheck

1. Touch the word that is misspelled, it will be underlined in red. 2. A box will appear above the word with spelling suggestions, tap the word that you want

to use. 3. The misspelled word will be replaced with the suggested word.

Deleting Notes

1. Open desired note.2. Touch the Trash Can.

Synching Bluetooth Keyboards

1. Press and hold the Keyboard Power button for 3 seconds.2. Select Settings.

3. Go to General.4. On the right side of screen, touch Bluetooth.5. Touch the Bluetooth Off icon for it to say On.6. Touch the Apple Wireless Keyboard name.7. A message box appears with a 4-digit number.8. Type the 4-digit number and press Return.

Calendar

Viewing Calendars

1. There are five ways to view the calendar: Day, Week, Month, Year, or in a List.2. Touch the Search Box and begin typing for specific event.3. The Month and List views are the easiest to use.

Adding Calendar Events

1. Tap the Plus icon.2. Type the Name of event.3. Enter Event Location.4. Touch the Start and End Time icon.5. Flick the Date and Time adjuster to set Day, Hour, Minutes, and AM or PM.6. If it’s an All Day Event, touch All Day Event Off to turn On. 7. Touch the Done icon.8. Choose any Repeat or Alert options and add any additional Notes about event.9. When finished, touch the Done icon to Save Event.

Editing Events

1. Open Event.2. Touch Edit.3. Make changes.4. Touch Done.

Deleting Events

1. Open Event.2. Touch Edit.3. Touch Delete Event.

Adding New Contacts

1. Open Contacts.2. Touch Plus.3. Type First and Last Name.4. Type Phone Number and E-mail Address.5. When finished, touch Done.

Searching for Contacts

1. Contacts are arranged by First letter of Last Name. 2. Touch a contact’s name to view information.

Editing Contacts

1. Open contact name.2. Touch Edit.3. Make changes.4. Touch Done when finished.

Deleting Contacts

1. Open contact name.2. Touch Edit.3. Touch Delete Contact.

Connecting to a Wireless Network

Screen Layout

1. Open Mail.2. The last screen or message looked at appears first after opening the app.3. Touch Mailbox.4. Along the left side of screen are E-mail Folders, including: Inbox, Drafts, Sent,

Trash, All Mail, and G-mail folders.5. Tap a Folder Name to view messages within the folder.6. Messages with a Blue Dot besides them are Unread messages.7. Tap a message to open.8. Touch the Up or Down arrows to view the previous or next message.

Creating New Message

1. Touch the Square icon.2. Touch the Blue Plus Symbol.3. Choose person’s name.4. Type a title in Subject Line.5. Type message.6. When finished, touch Send.

Replying to an E-mail Message

1. Open message.2. Touch the Arrow.3. Type message.4. When finished, touch Send.

Moving Messages into E-mail Folders

1. Open message.2. Touch the Move icon.3. Touch folder name.

Deleting Individual Messages

1. Open message.2. Touch Trash Can.3. Confirm deletion.

Deleting Multiple Messages at One Time

1. Open a mailbox.2. Touch Edit.3. Touch all of the messages to delete.4. Touch the Delete icon.5. Confirm deletion.

Using the Safari App

1. Touch Back to go back. 2. Touch Forward to return.3. The Address Bar displays the web address.4. Next is the Google Search Box.

Switching Between Opened Web Pages

1. Tabs are located just above web page.2. Touch tab to open.3. Touch the Plus icon to open new tab.4. Touch the small X icon to close tab.

Creating Bookmarks1. Touch Utilities.2. Touch Add Bookmark.3. Touch Save.4. To view bookmarks, touch the Bookmarks icon, then bookmark name to open.

Downloading Apps

1. Touch the Search Box in the top right corner.2. In the Search Box, type the name of app.3. Touch an app to see more information.4. To the right of the App icon, touch the Free or Price icon.5. Touch the Install icon.6. Type Apple ID Password and touch OK.

1. Touch Record.2. Speak clearly into microphone.3. Press Stop.

Playing Recordings

E-mailing Recording

Dragon Dictation Notes

Composing New Note

1. Touch the Plus icon.2. Touch the Red Recording icon.3. Speak clearly near the built-in microphone, and use short sentences. 4. When finished, touch Stop Recording.5. If an error message appears, try moving into a quieter area.6. To add to note, touch Record again.

Editing Dictated Text

1. Touch the Keyboard icon.2. Correct mistakes.3. Double tap screen near mistake.4. Type correction.5. When finished, touch the Hide Keyboard icon.

Searching for Existing Dictated Notes

1. Notes are automatically saved until e-mailed.2. Touch the Notes icon.3. Touch note from list to open.

E-mailing Dictated Notes

1. Open note.2. Touch the Menu icon.3. Touch E-mail.4. A new e-mail appears.5. Touch the Blue Plus symbol to add person from Contacts.6. Type a short name in the Subject Line.7. Touch Send when finished.

Copying Dictated Text

Using Voice Search

1. Touch the Microphone icon below the Search Box.2. Note: Depending on the screen, the Microphone icon may be located to the right of

the Search Box.3. Speak into the iPad’s Microphone clearly.4. A message appears on the screen saying the app is Working.5. Search for desired website among the listed search results and touch to open.

Opening in Safari

1. Touch the Box/Arrow icon at the top right of screen.2. Touch the Open in Safari icon.3. In the Address Bar, touch the Reader icon, if available, after the page has finished

loading.4. Use VoiceOver Reading Gestures to read the text, or adjust the Font Size to review

text visually.

Searching for Local Businesses1. Touch a Category icon.2. Touch the Business Name from the results list.3. Touch the Show More icon to see additional results.4. The Business Location will appear in centrally within the map.5. Touch the Blue I next to the business name to see more information.

Adding Business Information into Contacts1. Find the business.2. Touch the Blue I next to the business name to see more information.3. Viewing Route Information to Business1. Touch the Magnifying Glass icon in the upper right-hand corner.2. Type the business name and touch the Search icon.3. Creating New Documents1. Touch the Plus icon located in the upper left-hand corner of Pages screen.2. Touch the Create Document icon.3. Explore the templates and touch the Blank - Choose a Template icon.

Naming Documents1. Return to the Pages screen.2. Touch and hold single finger for two seconds on top of the existing title for the

document.3. Type new name for document.4. Touch the Blue Done icon or press the Done key.

Reminders

Setting Reminders1. Touch the Plus icon in the upper right-hand corner.2. Begin typing reminder.3. Press the Return key to type additional reminders.4. When finished, touch the Hide Keyboard key. 5. Touch the reminder name from the Reminders List.6. In the information box, touch the Remind Me option.7. Touch the On a Day option to turn on.8. Adjust the Date and Time for reminder.9. When finished with reminder time, touch the Blue Done icon in the upper right-hand

corner of information box.10.Touch the Show More option and then the Notes option to Add Notes about

reminder.11.When finished, touch the Blue Done icon in the upper right-hand corner of information

Pandora

Searching for an Artist, Song, or Composer:1. Touch the Search Box in the upper left-hand corner.2. Type search request.3. Search results will appear as you type.4. Touch the desired Artist, Song, or Composer from the results list.5. A track by the chosen artist automatically begins playing.6. Each time a new Artist, Song, or Composer is chosen, they will appear as a Station

located among the Stations List on the left side of screen.

Other Facts1. Touch the Thumbs Up icon to indicate to Pandora song being played is one you like

or from an artist you like. This will help Pandora choose songs closer to your interests.2. Touch the Thumbs Down icon to if you dislike a song. The song automatically stops

playing. Go to the Skip button to hear the next song.3. Go to the Fast Forward icon to Skip the current track.4. The free version of Pandora requires a short Ad to be played every couple songs. To

stop the ads requires an Upgrade at a per month fee.5. Return to the Home screen and work on another app while the track is still being

played in the background.6. If the app is Closed from the Opened Apps Ribbon, the next time Pandora is

opened, the last song listened to will continue playing where left off.
