IT IS notified for general information of the public that the CabinetSecretary for Environment, Water and Natural Resources hasappointed a Steering Committee to develop a National GreenEconomy Strategy and Implementation Plan that will enhancetransition towards a green economy for achieving sustainable andinclusive development in Kenya.
The Steering Committee shall comprise of the following members:

2. The terms of reference of the Steering Committee shall be to:
(a) oversee the development and preparation of Green EconomyStrategy and Implementation Plan (GESIP);
(b) preparc TORs and oversee the selection process of experts toprovide technical support and supervise the technical inputsinto the process - including the Thematic Working Groups(TWGs);
(c) co-ordinate the formulation and implementation of a
communication strategy on green economy and growth inKenya that includes a mechanism to showcase the holisticapproach towards addressing green economy initiatives in thecounty, national, regronal and international;
(d) spearheid a national and county dialogue process and targetedadvocacy on green economy;
(e) develop a mechanism for strengthening and enhancingpartnership for resource mobilizahon and innovative measuresfor the delivery and rmplementation of the GESIP;
(fl ensure transparency, accountability and integrity in the GESIPprocess;
(9) co-ordinate the preparatlon of a results based monitoring,evaluation and reporting plan in consultation with other keystakeholders;
(h) develop a framework to support research and innovation for a
Green Economy;
(r,) submit regular (and on demand) progress reports; draft andfinal Green Economy Strategy and Implementation PIan to thePrincipal Secretary, State Department of Environment andNatural Resources; and
(j) Co-opt other members as the need arises.
The Secretanat of the Steering Committee shall be based at theMinistry of Environment, Water and Natural Resource, NHIFBuilding.
The term of the steering committee shall be a period of twelve ( I 2)months from the date of the publication of this Gazene Notice.

The koponent (Shajanand Hardwares Limited) is proposing todevelop a Petrol Station on Plot L.R.No.631/1183, KerichoMunicipality, Kericfi o County
The project will comprise of; Five pump isles (two for super, twofor diesel and one for kerosene), Three underground steel petroleumstorage tanks (USTs), A heavy duty covered man hole for each of theUPSTs, Service bay,' Car wash bay, Compressor room, Generatorroom, Lubricant Mart, Oil receptor tank, Store, Changing rooms,Storm Water Dtains, Canopy over pumps, Station shop, stores andoffices, Air and water point, Sanitary facilities, a conservancy tank,Associated piping and wiring work, Parking bay, a four storeycommercial block, with basement and a four storey residential block .

Preparation and implementation of theplan must be made the responsibility ofthe building contractor with the systembeing monitored independently.
Special anention should be given tominimizing and reducing the quantitiesof solid waste produced during sitepreparation and construction.
Any vegetation and combustible wastemust not be bumed on the site.

The project entails the establishment ofJatropha curcas as a hedgeby 1200 farmers organizing them in SHG found in four clusters inMida, Mijomboni, Kakuyuni and Markebuni areas of NorthConstituency, Kilifi County. Although the core business of th9proponent will be to skill the local farmers establishing Jatropha Plantsas a live fence around therr farms and later harvest the seeds for oilproduction, and briquette from biomass, the growing of other foodcrops will continue on the same piece of land un-interfered, all thesewill take place without destruction of the native vegetadon
