“The Vineyard Parable”
One day as Jesus was in the Temple teaching the chief priests, the scribes and Pharisees did not like what He was teaching nor His influence on
people.
They challenged His authority.
“Listen to this story,” Jesus said
to them.
And He begins to quote Isaiah 5 –
“The Vineyard Parable”
“When everything was finished, he rented the vineyard to some farmers
and went away to a far country.”
“When the harvest time came, he sent his servants to the husbandmen (the tenants) to collect his fruit” vs 34
“The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.” vs 35
“Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants did the same to them.” vs 36
“But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, ‘This is the heir. Come, let's kill him and take his
inheritance.’ vs.38
“But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, ‘This is the heir. Come, let's kill him and take his
inheritance.’ vs.38
"He will miserably destroy those wicked men and will let out his vineyard to other tenants which will give him fruit at the time of the harvest,’ they replied.”
vs 41
Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in
the Scriptures , `The stone that
the builders rejected is now the chief cornerstone?’
This is God’s doing and is marvelous
in our eyes’
Matthew 21: 42
"Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will bring forth fruit” 43
“When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus' parable, they knew He was talking about
them.”
Verse 45
“But when they sought to lay hands on Him,
they feared the people
because they took Him
for a prophet.”
Matthew 21:46
