Red Clay, Tennessee, beginning of the Trail of Tears

Andrew Jackson was a very cruel man to the Indians. He signed a bill into law that allowed Americans to take the Indians land for a growing nation. They took the Indians land and forced them to move elsewhere. The trail that the Indians traveled when they left was later named the “Trail of Tears”. Many Indians died on this trail, but mostly the young and elderly. This incident encouraged manifest destiny because it caused the Indians to want to move West in search of new land.
