Hospital Work—December 24 & 25
The Temple membership has the opportunity to volunteer to help out in a variety of tasks at Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson. As in previous years, the hospital staff needs your help for about two hours. This will allow staff and other volunteers to have time off to enjoy their holidays. The tasks include activities at the front desk, telephone inquiries, and whatever is else is requested such as operating the gift shop or errands for a staff member. This is time well spent and a good mitzvah as well. There is still plenty of time left for a movie and Chinese food. If you would like to participate, contact Harvey Morginstin for your scheduled date and time at 973-338-6408 or [email protected].
We still want each of our members to be a part of the "Path of Peace" walkway leading to the Temple's main entrance. You can order 4X8 bricks at $180 or 8X8 bricks at $360.

Join The Chesed Committee!
Do you or your family need some extra help? Are you in mourning and in need of a meal and some emotional support? Is someone in your family shut-in at home and in need of a visitor? Are you a new parent and in need of a few hours of respite? If you could use some help, or provide some help to a fellow congregant, get in touch with the Chesed Committee! “Chesed” means “doing the right thing,” and there are many ways you can do the right thing in the caring community that is Temple Ner Tamid. The Chesed Committee responds to the practical and emotional needs of congregants. You can make your commitment a one-shot deal, or take on an ongoing responsibility. If you are interested in any or all of these activities, or have ideas for new ways the Chesed Committee can help, let us add your email to our growing list of people who want to help. Ner Tamid is About People
Meet some of Ner Tamid’s Newest Members and Help Us Welcome Them to Our Community
Michael and Sarah Blaine
When Michael and Sarah Blaine got married, it was foreordained that their children would be raised Jewish. Sarah had been involved in Jewish activities all her life, and Michael, who was not Jewish, respected her faith. Now that their older daughter, Elizabeth, is 9 years old they joined Temple Ner Tamid to begin her Jewish education. Their younger daughter, Julianna, age 5, will follow suit when the time comes. Elizabeth attends Hillside School and Julianna attends the Montclair Community Pre-K. Sarah attended NFTY MItzvah Corps. in high school. She was chair of the Jewish Student Union at Wesleyan, and after college she spent a year in Isra-el under the UJF project OTZMA, having various volunteer and learning ex-periences throughout the country. Michael converted to Judaism after their marriage, and is looking forward to exploring his faith at the Temple. Sarah is interested in getting involved with her children's Jewish education. She knows the challenges of raising Jewish children when one parent did not grow up Jewish, because her own mother was a Jew by choice. They are the poster family for interfaith marriage resulting in Jewish children. When they are not working as litigators are their respective law firms, Mi-chael and Sarah enjoy family time. Their extended families are also close, because Sarah grew up in Short Hills and Michael grew up on Long Island. A warm welcome to the Blaine family.
Zoe and Ruark Behan Zoe and Ruark Behan, along with their son Kyle, daughter Amelia, and son Logan, are among our new members this year. Like many of our 30 new families, the Behans have al-ready been active in the Temple community through Shoresh. We now welcome them as Temple members! They lived in Nutley for 8 years before moving to Montclair 2 ½ years ago. Zoe is a Montclair native and Ruark is from Brooklyn. Zoe is a freelance publishing and marketing consultant for media companies while Ruark is a motion picture technician who has most recently worked on the popular shows Girls and Orange is the New Black. Kyle is 8 years old, in 3rd grade, and attends Hebrew School at Ner Tamid. Amelia is 5 years old and in kindergarten while baby brother, Logan is in the threes class at Shoresh. All three kids play sports after school, but they are especially fond
