Abstract
Tardive dyskinesia (TD) is a group of hyperkinetic movement disorders caused by the usage of dopamine receptor-blocking agents (DRBAs), especially for the first generation of antipsychotic drugs or the antiemetic drugs. TD is characterized by oro-buccal-lingual stereotypy, can cause a combination of different types of abnormal movements to the neck, trunk, and limbs. The best strategy for the therapy of TD is prevention as possible as the limitation of DRBAs. In some research, the benzodiazepine drugs, atypical neuroleptics or tetrabenazine were tested and shown to be beneficial to the treatment.
