SWBAT solve two-step algebraic equations.
Two-Step Equations are equations that require two-steps to solve. You will ADD or SUBTRACT and then
MULTIPLY or DIVIDE.
33xx + 8 = 29 + 8 = 29
Coefficient – The number that is attached to a variable
33xx + 8 = 29 + 8 = 29CoefficientCoefficient
To get rid of the coefficient, you will either MULTIPY or DIVIDE
The constant is the number that is not attached to a variable. It MUST be on the same side of the equal sign
as the variable.
33xx + + 88 = 29 = 29CoefficientCoefficient ConstantConstant
To get rid of the constant, you will either ADD or SUBTRACT
You get rid of the constant FIRST!!
4x + 12 = 20
To solve two-step equations, you do order of operations in REVERSE
This means that you do addition or subtraction FIRST.
THEN you do multiplication or division.
22xx + 4 = 10 + 4 = 10 22xx - 4 = 10 - 4 = 10
55xx + 12 = 32 + 12 = 32 33xx + 6 = 27 + 6 = 27
99xx + 9 = 18 + 9 = 18 66xx + 12 = 18 + 12 = 18
55xx - 15 = 20 - 15 = 20 88xx + 10 = 42 + 10 = 42
