During the Vietnam War the youth of America were looking for answers about the war itself and society overall. Timothy Leary taught the youth that it was ok to “free one’s mind” or basically get stoned out of your mind and question the authority of the United States. Before the 1960’s not too many people knew about LSD and other psychedelic drugs. LSD is a tasteless, odorless, colorless substance that can be taken in a variety of ways. Between 1960 and 1970 over 2 million people have experienced an LSD trip. Leary experienced his first LSD trip in 1962. He described it as “The most shattering experience of my life”. He became the spokesperson for LSD shortly after. Taking LSD and listening to the preaching of Timothy Leary and others, greatly affected the youth of America during that time.

In the assassination's aftermath, the Warren Commission was established ostensibly to investigate the murder. Today its conclusions, regardless of one's personal view of them, echo long after the sound of gunfire in Dealey Plaza.
