HAVEN, Oakland County’s only comprehensive nonprofit for survivors
of domestic violence and sexual assault, serves people who take an
enormous risk-- the risk to move themselves and their children away
from everything they know. The transition out of domestic violence is
unimaginably painful. But one step towards safety and through HAVEN’s
doors can blossom into a bright future full of hope and promise.
Every day, HAVEN sees survivors of domestic violence come into their
own and even flourish through access to safe shelter, counseling and
court advocacy and help with housing, finance, transportation, and
medical resources. Through our diverse programs and outreach efforts,
we benefit over 30,000 people per year.
HAVEN’s annual gala is its largest fundraiser each year, bringing in over
$300,000 for critical programs and services. HAVEN’s Blossom Gala,
Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, will be a glamorous
evening that includes a seated dinner, silent and live auctions, entertainment,
inspirational speakers and an afterglow party with live music. We have a
variety of sponsorship options to fit your company’s charitable strategy.

The Department of Labor reports that victims of domestic violence lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the U.S., resulting in a $1.8 billion loss in productivity for employers.

HAVEN is a member of The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). AFP represents more than 30,000 members in 235 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs.
AFP states that the best practices for special events are to ensure that the Cost to Raise A Dollar (CTRAD) is less than $0.40. HAVEN is proud to share that in 2017, the CTRAD for the 4th Annual Gala was only $0.18, far below established best practices, ensuring that the majority of funds received from this event directly help survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
