INTRODUCTION
Housekeeping is a process where everyone in the company/ organization is committed and involved in upkeep of the work place and cleanliness of machines, materials /tools / information etc. such that only needed material, machine, tools, information is kept and its test accessibility is ensured.
Need of Housekeeping
In today’s competitive environment organizations have to compete at all fronts
Today customers not only buys products and services but also like to see the condition of the place where it is made
Customer determines the attitude of the organization towards quality after seeing the methods of work, environment and culture at the work place
5’S means…..
Seiri - Sort in sort out or segregation Seiton -Systematic arrangement or systemize Seiso -Sanitise – cleanup – spick and
span Seiketsu -Standardize – uniformity of
everything that is done in the organization Shitsuke -Self discipline / proper attitudes /
habit formation
Poor 5’s practices
We have chosen Canteen for this challenge
Usually the canteen is a place where majority of the college people come to have their food
So it is utmost important that the canteen should be clean, neat & tidy
It should replicate a healthy environment to the people
The food which is served there should be made hygienic
The overall sitting arrangements should be done in a proper manner
The spoons, Plates, Dishes etc should be properly washed and maintained
Problems faced due to lack of 5’s
