PurposeThis portfolio is very important for talking about my life and things which are important to

me. This portfolio is also a great exercise to think of things in English and write about the adventures that I am living here. Welcome.

IntroductionI´ll write about myself in 4 topics: 1- Dancing; 2 – Photography; 3- Psychology; 4-

Coaching and Human Resources. Furthermore, I will write about where I was born, why I choose Ireland to make this exchange and someone experiences here. The last topic will be a Diary with reflections and thinks about many things.

A- ABOUT MYSELF

I´m from Brazil, I was born in São Paulo.

São Paulo is a big city and is a good place to work and enjoy!

Picture of São Paulo: “Avenue Paulista”, one of the most famous avenues.

In São Paulo I worked since my 15 years old. I worked with many differents jobs and position like Reception, Attendance, Administrative Support.

Actually, I’ m a Recruiter and normally I help people to find a differents job. I love my job. I like to help people.

A.1. WHY IRELAND?

I believe that this moment is an important moment in my life, because I am having a different experience in Ireland.

Ireland is special country for me. Because of the architecture, parks, history and politics, I feel respect for this place!

B- THE FOUR TOPICS OF MY LIFE

1- PSYCHOLOGY

I am a graduated in Psychology, because I like to understand people, Philosophy and things about behavior which are very important to me.

I made it through my school and I helped people whenever I could, although I am not an expert in the clinical area.

2- COACHING & HUMAN RESOURCES

I chose to specialize in Personal Coaching, because I thought I could put this knowledge into practise also in the area of human resources.

I have 7 years of experience in Human Resources and I know I need to study and learn much more about the Management of people.

3- DANCING

Dance is a little part of my life… I really believe that everybody needs to make things for their leisure… and relaxation. In my case I love dancing and Photography.

I started dancing 2 years ago. In Brazil every weekend I go out with friends to dance and my favorite kind of dance is “ZOUK”.

Zouk is the name of a kind of dance and in Brasil is like a “Lambada”.

I Believe that dancing brings people together, regardless of color, race, age or any other distinction. There isn’t any difference between people when they dance together and feeling positive is predominant. I really like it and want to do it for the rest of my life.

4- PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is like magic to me. Unfortunately or fortunately, I discovered that I´m in love with photography recently.

Unfortunately, because I could have invested more time and money in this before. Fortunately because I think that it is never too late to make or start something.

I take photos when I´m inspired to relax or forget my problems.

I intend to do a course here in Dublin before I go back to Brazil. The objective is to know more about Photography. I have a semi-professional camera which is very good to practices with.

C- MY ACTUAL ROUTINEWell, I´m here in Dublin since 11 of May and during the week I go to school to study

English. My class is only on in the morning.

However, I normally work on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

My job is to help a family organizing simple things and cooking. I like this Job, and I´ll do my best to keep it.

D- PLACE THAT I KNOW IN IRELAND (AT THE MOMENT)

I really don´t know many places in Dublin, but I would like to write about 3 special places for me at the moment.

St. Patricks Church;

Ancient architecture and detail inside and out. Impossible not to be astonished with the historical richness of the place.

Dublin Castle;

Really interesting place and free.

Outside, the look is fantastic and amazing. You can feel like you are in a film when you are there.

Aside from my surprise there is a curious exposition about religion around the world and historics situations.

The most interesting topic for me was about the 5 pillars of Islam:

1. Shahadah: declaring there is no god except God, and Muhammad is God's Messenger

2. Salat: ritual prayer five times a day3. Zakat: giving 2.5% of one’s savings to the poor and needy4. Sawm: fasting and self-control during the blessed month of Ramadan5. Hajj: pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime if he/she is able to

Britas Bray Beach;

I really liked this place, because, it reminds me of my Country. In Brazil there are many beaches and I love this ambiance.

Of course, Britas Bray is a beach which is very different than any beach in Brazil, but in Summer is possible to relax, see the horizon, hear the waves and take beautiful photos.

I recommend this for everyone who love beaches.

Well, I intend to get to know many other places here. I need to make better plans and meet new friends to make this happen.

E- MY LAST FILM AND BOOK IN ENGLISH HOMELAND

Well… Normally I don´t like series. But, when I started this series, I could not stop. Because is exciting and intriguing.

These series is based in “Hatufim” one series from Israeli. And the history is in general is an investigation of CIA about possible involvement of one American sargent in Al-Qaeda. This situation could be a problem for the state.

WHAT IS ISLAM

I started read this book a 2 weeks ago. To be honest the context is hard, not is easy.

But, I chose this subject because I feel curiosity about the Islam and I would like to understand why many different things happen with Muslim´s people.

F-DIARY ABOUT MY ROUTINE

Week 1 – 19 to 23 May

I have one big friend here in Dublin, your name is Natália Fernandes. She is from Brazil too and she lives here since October of 2012. She has a boyfriend from Poland and because this she traveled to Poland in last week. She´s back now in this week and I can feel better and very happy because this. I´ll explain…:

Natália Fernandes is a person who is very important to me, and here I don´t have anybody who I can trust. She I´ll be my sister and is very good company.

Furthermore this week I decided that I´ll write anything using the new words learned in class and I´ll accentuate the word to remember it.

It is good training for me I know I need to improve my vocabulary. I have many doubts about grammar, and I´ll try to write correctly, to learn more.

During this week I was learning about places in Dublin like:

The Clifs of Moher (West Coast) Killarney ( South West of Dublin) The Burren ( South of Galway) Newgrange (North of Dublin) Glendalough ( South of Dublin)

Week 2 – 26 to 30 May

This week my English teacher Brendan changed room. My class room has a new teacher. This is great for learning.

The best thing that happened this week was going out with other students from Griffith College to visit Dublin Castle!

It is a beautiful and interesting place and free to visit. I intend to go back there another day to take photos with my camera.

Week 3 – 2 to 7 of June

Well, this week something interesting happened… We had a holiday on Monday. Great!

Unfortunately I worked, but honestly I really like working at my job. I felt very well working on Monday, I just couldn't see my friends and didn't visited new places in Dublin.

This week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday I´ll do a photography course and I am very happy about this. It is a simple course and the teacher is from Brazil so I'm sure that I will understand everything.

At this moment this is the best option because I´m learning English and my listening is not perfect or good enough to do a course in English.

Well, I´m anxious to take many good photos here and this is why this course is very important to me.

Week 4 – 9 at 13 of June

The last big event in my life was my change of house. Yes, I have been in Dublin since my first day in Home stay. Unfortunately I had to change, because the price is too expensive to live in Home stay.

I think that this change is a challenge for me because there are new people in a new place. However, I know one special girl that lives in this new house and she is my classmate! This is wonderful! It´s perfect for me… and I suppose that it will be very nice to live with her and her friends.

Reflections

I felt I have made a little progress with my English skills. To be honest I think that in 1 month I did not learn anything new. However now I´m feeling more free and comfortable to speak and write in English than when I arrived in Dublin.

I know I need to study a lot to improve my English. I studied English in Brazil for 1 year but stopped 3 years ago and forgot many things and important rules. These gaps make me feel sad some days.

Moreover, I really understand that I need to be interested and motivated to search for the answer to my questions, doubts and always ask the teacher.

During this Portfolio the teacher corrected mistakes in my written and

Reading. It was very important to learn these little details.

Maybe in another occasion I will write about many other things which are important to me.

Conclusion

This portfolio is only one piece of my life.

Talking about our life, preferences and hobby (s) is something which you could write pages and pages about. However I was grateful to make this little portfolio.

With the help of my current teacher, many doubts were resolved, especially about grammar. I recommend this exercise for other students, because it is perfect to improve: thinking and writing in English and after reading it all again.
