Vx EPORE WITH PEDRO HOMAR L AST week The Associa- tion “EuropeosporEs- paña” (EporE) had a fas- cinating presentation from Pedro Homar, Managing Di- rector of “Fundacion 365”. This is an organisation responsible for tourism in Majorca. The Founda- tion consists of 28 private compa- nies and 3 public entities, all di- rectly related to tourism in the City, and with a combined budget of 6,000,000€. Sr Homar himself comes from the private sector, and is a recognised expert having spent a number of years working in other countries including the United States. His presentation included an explanation of the brand change of Palma as a city open all the year round and acting as a centre of op- eration for Majorca in the winter. 91% of the city’s hotels are open all this winter. The promotion tar- gets eight specific “products” in- cluding sport, culture, shopping, gastronomy, wellness and cruises. He described in detail his five year plan for the city, as well as his ex- tensive meetings with tour opera- tors and airlines, not to mention at- tending specialised promotion fairs. And of course he was at the World Travel Mart in London dur- ing the last few days. There was an open and lively discussion with all those attending which continued well past the planned schedule. All EporE members and friends pre- sent were duly impressed both with Sr Homar’s total grasp of the absolute detail of his subject, as well as with the plans for Palma. Indeed several are having one-to- one meetings in the coming weeks. NEXT UP T HERE will be an open meeting next week at Mood Beach Bar and Restaurant in Costa D’en Blanes. The meeting is again organised by Europeos Por España (EPORE) and will cover the hot topic of “The Cost of Electricity in the Balearics”. This is a topic very close to many people’s hearts, and wallets. There will be a presentation by Sr. Jaime Ochogavia Colom who is the Director General for Industry and Energy for the Balearic Govern- ment. Other topics which will be discussed include the pipeline con- nections to the national grid and offshore drilling around the Balear- ics. The meeting will start at 7pm on Thursday 13 November and will be held in English and Spanish. There is plenty of easy and free parking at the venue: Mood Beach Bar and Restaurant, Ctra KM 11 Palma – Andratx, Costa D’en Blanes, Calvia. Mood is between Sporting Tenis and Marineland.
