A LOOK INSIDE THE NFA

OVERVIEWanada’s National Firearms Association (NFA) was started in 1978 by pioneers in the field of Canadian firearm rights

advocacy Bill Jones, David Tomlinson, and Ray Laycock, and others. These early firearms rights activists organized

shooters and firearms owners in protest of the gun control legislation of the Liberal Government of the day. Since its

inception NFA has fought for firearms owners in court, on the ground, and in Parliament. NFA has helped and success-

fully defended thousands of firearms owners who have been accused of paper crimes due to poorly conceived and

badly implemented firearms control laws. NFA is a voluntary firearm rights advocacy group that works on a number

of fronts. Our executive board is comprised of academics, firearm law specialists, ordinary firearm owners as well

as firearm business interests from across Canada. The NFA team works to ensure that our country’s firearm laws

respect the rights and culture of Canadian Firearms Owners. NFA is the leading advocacy organization protecting the

Canadian right and cultural tradition of firearms ownership. Membership is made up of all Canadians from all walks of

life who share common beliefs and goals that as law abiding Canadians, we have the right and duty to protect our fire-

arms heritage today and for future generations. The NFA is a registered NGO at the United Nations and member of the

World Forum of Shooting Activities. The NFA successfully lobbied the Canadian Government convincing them to not

sign the UN Arms Trade Treaty and to not implement the UN Firearms Marking Scheme. We also continue to lobby the

Government for the repeal of Canada’s participation in the ATT.

SOCIAL MEDIAOur social media strategy via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Youtube gets results for our advertisers. Our Facebook Posts consistently reach and engage as many as 200,000 people. We maintain one of the largest closed and private Facebook pro-firearm groups in Canada with over 12000 active participants. We also boast 3 Facebook pages in both french and english languages. Combined we have nearly 50,000 likes. Our advertisers have had great success resulting in real sales when we actively promote or boost a cer-tain product line, retail outlet or other firearms-related service.

WEBSITE AND ONLINE PROMOTIONSThroughout the year the NFA conducts several different promotional initiatives. Included for your review as an example is our latest promotion: Round-up to Win. We have a bank of over 100,000 e-mail addresses that we use to conduct promotional e-blasts. In 2013 our website generated 300,000 visits and 550,000 page views.

CANADIAN FIREARMS JOURNALThis is Canada’s premier firearms and politics journal. It is circulated throughout our mem-bership base. Print advertising opportunities and marketing platforms with regards to certain types of firearms are extremely limited in Canada. With the Canadian Firearms Journal you can set the stage with regards to product offering. Our readership and mem-ber base are the user-specific target market for all types of firearms, ammunition and ac-cessories. Our membership is comprised of over 75,000 Canadians; hunters, ISPC shoot-ers, current and former law enforcement officers and military personnel, collectors and both professional and recreational shooters. Our members drive the Canadian firearms market. The CFJ team headed by renowned Canadian firearms author Al Voth (B Zone, Mandatory Reload) has unparalleled flexibility in helping you bring forward an effective ad campaign that will drive sales.
