Contentment of the hearts is one of the greatest blessings for a Believer. It is the greed
of the human beings that cause man to conquer and kill others.
If mankind believes in Allah SWT, He would have given blessings from above and on
earth such as rain, vegetation, livestock, peace and security, contentment etc.
Punishment of Allah SWT comes all of a sudden

Do the people of those towns feel secure that Our punishment will not come to them at night while they
are asleep? (97)
Too often we hear disasters such as hurricane, tornado, earthquake, landslide
happening while people are in the midst of their daily activities.
Here Allah SWT is warning mankind of His power an ability to strike when He wishes and
how He wishes. So no one should feel so secure or immune from Allah SWT’s wrath.
Unfortunately people derive no lesson from history and the destruction of others. They become
trapped in their own stubbornness and heedlessness.

After those We sent forth Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his nobles, but they dealt with Our signs
unjustly. Observe, then, what happened to the mischief-makers. (7:103)
First it was nations that rejected the Messengers and now here is an individual; Pharaoh
who is not only rejecting Prophet Musa (AS) but also claiming that he is God and must
be worshipped.
Pharaoh demanded a sign from Prophet Musa (AS) but when the sign came he called it
magic and his own sorcerers whom he brought to put down Prophet Musa (AS)
surrendered to the truth saying: مي ل عى الا برب

Pharaoh wanted to control the minds of the people. He said مك لنذ آنل أ

you believe in him before I give you permission?
But having been humiliated, Pharaoh called it a conspiracy and thus used his military
might to crucify them but faith is stronger than fear. They responded fearlessly:

Will you punish us just because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our
Lord! Shower us with perseverance and cause us to die as those who have submitted [to You].
Pharaoh now turns his attention to Prophet Musa (AS) and the Children of Israel.
So his evil advisors said: كتله وآ

and his people to cause corruption in the land and abandon you and your gods?" .. (127)
They told Prophet Musa (AS) 'Whatever sign you might produce before us in order to
enchant us, we are not going to believe you.' (132)
Then Allah SWT sent one punishment after the other until Pharaoh and his army were
finally drowned.
People generally love to find someone to lay blame for their misfortunes

But whenever prosperity came their way, they said: 'This is from us.' And whatever hardship befell them,
they attributed it to the misfortune of Moses and those who followed him. Surely, their misfortune had
been decreed by Allah - but most of them do not know that (7:131)
People can misuse freedom quite easily

And We led the Children of Israel across the sea; and then they came upon a people who were devoted to
the worship of their idols. They said: '0 Moses, make for us a god even as they have gods.'
The Children of Israel have not reached their destination and they are willing to give up
their belief in Allah SWT and wanting to worship idols. Within a period of three months
they forgot they were rescued from generations of slavery, the sea opened and the
drowning of Pharaoh and his army. Now they this new freedom they chose to commit
Shirk with Allah SWT.
So Allah SWT tested them and Prophet Musa (AS) was called by Allah SWT to go to
Mount Sinai for forty days. The Children of Israel took this opportunity to make a calf of
gold and began worshipping it.
The greatest freedom is for a person to connect with his Creator not the freedom to do
whatever his desires lead him to do for often the desires is Shaitaan’s domain.
Allah SWT is ever ready to forgive those who repent sincerely

As for those who do evil, and later repent and have faith, such shall find their Lord All-Forgiving, All-
So Allah SWT created them on this Fitrah that : There is no deity worthy of worship
except Him SWT. In a Hadith Qudsi: Allah said, `I created My servants Hunafa' (monotheists), but the devils
came to them and deviated them from their religion, prohibiting what I allowed. In another Hadith Rasoolullah SAS said: It will be said to a man from the people of the Fire on
the Day of Resurrection, `If you owned all that is on the earth, would you pay it as ransom' He
will reply, `Yes.' Allah will say, `I ordered you with what is less than that, when you were still in
Adam's loins, that is, associate none with Me (in worship) but you insisted and associated
partners with Me (in worship).'’ Wealth can be a big trial even for Scholars:

And recite to them the story of him to whom We gave Our - وات
Ayat, but he threw them away
This was about one of the scholars of the Children of Israel whose people used to seek
his lead in supplication to Allah in times of difficulty. Prophet Musa AS) sent him to the
King of Madyan to call him to Allah. That king delighted him and gave him land and gifts,
and he reverted from the Deen of Musa and followed the king's religion

And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they
do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do
not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless. (179)
They did not benefit from these senses that Allah made for them as a means of gaining
guidance. Instead they used them like animals but that is worse because man has
intellect and animals do not have intellect. Call on Allah SWT through His Names and Attributes

Allah SWT has The most Beautiful Names and He should be called by those Names. People must
not invent names of Allah SWT nor should they use His Names for the creation and then call on
them.
We are commanded to 'shun those who distort Allah SWT's names'

And of those whom We have created there is a party who guide men through the truth and act justly
according to it.
Rasoolullah SAS said: There will always be a group of my Ummah who are apparent on the
Truth, unaffected by those who fail or oppose them, until the (Last) Hour commences.
As for those who try to stop the Believers and reject Allah SWT’s signs, Allah SWT says:
“We shall lead them, step by step, to their ruin without their even perceiving it”. Rasoolullah (SAS) does not knowledge of the unseen except what was revealed to him

Tell them [O Muhammad]: 'I have no power to benefit or harm myself except as Allah may please. And
had I knowledge of the unseen, I should have amassed all kinds of good, and no evil would have ever
touched me. …'(188)
There were times when Allah SWT revealed knowledge of the unseen immediately like
when Banu Nadhir wanted to assassinate him at their fort. So Allah SWT sent Angel
Jibreel to warn him immediately of this threat.
But on many occasion Rasoolullah SAS had to act on faith and trust in Allah SWT
because he did not know the future. This is a lesson we learn from the Seerah.
A true Believer is always on the alert to sense the whisperings of Shaitaan

If the God-fearing are instigated by any suggestion of Satan, they instantly become alert, where after
they clearly perceive the right way. (7:201)
In doing Da'wah the Da'ee is faced with the angry words, slander, persecution and mischief
of his opponents. He should recognize that this just a plot to get him to stop and he should have
self-restraint.
Sometimes Shaitaan whispers: You need to stop inviting others to Deen because they will get
upset at you. Or he may whisper : Don’t say the straight answer, try to be politically correct! The Aadaab when the Quran is being recited

So when the Qur'an is recited, listen carefully to it, and keep silent so that you may, be shown mercy.'
Allah SWT commanded that one listen to the Qur'an when it is recited, in respect and
honor of the Qur'an. This is to the contrary of the practice of the pagans of Quraysh who
used to make noise so as not to listen to The Qur'an.
Surat-ul Anfal (1-40)
The Surah takes its name AL-ANFAL (The Booty/Spoils of war) from the first verse.
It was revealed in 2 A.H. after the Battle of Badr, the first battle between Islam and Kufr.
The Quraish were defeated and their arms and equipment came into the hands of the
Muslims as spoils of war.
All their big chiefs, who were their best soldiers and who had led the opposition to
Islam, were killed in this Battle.

The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His
verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely - (2) The ones who
establish prayer, and from what We have provided them, they spend. (3)
A Believer’s faith grows as he is able to submit to the command of Allah SWT which he
comes across especially when he submits to what goes against his desires.
A man might be thinking of committing injustice or a sin. But he abstains when he is
told, `Have Taqwa of Allah', and his heart becomes fearful. Details, purpose and outcome of The Battle of Badr

And (remember) when Allah promised you (Muslims) one of the two parties (of the enemy i.e. either the
army or the caravan) that it should be yours, you wished that the one not armed (the caravan) should be
yours, but Allah willed to justify the truth by His Words and to cut off the roots of the disbelievers. (7)
Allah will establish the truth and abolish falsehood, even if the criminals disliked it. (8)
Allah SWT responded to the Du'a of Rasoolullah SAS: 'I will indeed reinforce you with a
thousand angels, coming host after host.'(9)
There is no victory except from Allah (10)
When prevalent conditions should have produced intense fear and panic among them,
Allah SWT filled their hearts with such peace and tranquility that they were
overpowered with drowsiness.
Allah SWT made firm the feet of those who believe cast terror into the hearts of those
who disbelieve.
Allah SWT is The One who caused things to happen in Badr but Believers had to go carry
out their human responsibilities.

Allah commands His believing servants to obey Him and His Messenger and warns them
against defying him and imitating those who reject Him. Obedience to Allah SWT and His Rasool (SAS) it is what this life is. Most importantly between a man and his heart is Allah SWT hence the Du'a: O You Who

To prevent anyone from hypocrisy two convictions are necessary:
First, that he will have to face the reckoning and Allah SWT knows everything
