Dressing and Bandage

The function of the Dressing

• Contol bleeding• Prevent infection感染• Absorb discharge• Avoid further injury

The Functions of bandage• To maintain direct pressure over a dressing to control

bleeding.• To retain dressings and splints in position.• To prevent or reduce swelling.• To provide support for limb or joint• To restrict movement• To assist in lifting and carrying casualty( easy to transport)

Bandage• Whole• Broad• Narrow

Symtoms and signs indicate that a bandage is too tight

• Blue tinge of the finger or toe nails• Pallor of the extremities(苍白）• Tingling or loss of sensation(no

feeling)• Coldness off the extremities• Inability to move the fingers or toes.

Simple Bandage

• Arm sling• Elevation sling(st john sling)• Hand bandage ----Palm,fist• Head bandage• Foot bandage
