INTRODUCTION
We are glad to invite you to the 1st CIRP Conference on Composite Materials Parts Manufacturing (CIRP CCMPM), which will be held from June 8-9, 2017 in Karlsruhe, Germany. The conference is a great chance for experts from academia and industry in the field of composite materials parts manufacturing to present and discuss their findings on a very high level, which stimulates and supports the knowledge in this field. The first CIRP CCMPM follows up on this path and offers three parallel sessions concerning the aforementioned topics. The highest scientific standards and the success of the whole conference is guaranteed by an interna-tional scientific committee containing highly esteemed researchers of composite materials parts manufacturing and other related research areas.

CONFERENCE TOPICS
Topic 1: Design & LifecycleThe topic "Design & Lifecycle" discusses all issues before and after the actual part generation. It includes the design and engineering of composite parts as well as recycling issues.• Composite recycling and sustainability• Composite characterization methods• Part modelling, fiber matrix interaction• Structural analysis and optimization• Part design technology – structural reliability• Smart structure design – multifunctional composites
Topic 2: Part Generation
The topic "Part Generation" discusses all issues concerning the manufacturing processes forming the general shape of the part. It includes the manufacturing process itself, the machines and automation-solutions for those processes and in-process quality measurement and control.• Manufacturing technologies• Preforming and handling technology• Automation• Quality control and process monitoring• Manufacturing process optimization
Topic 3: Part Finishing and AssemblyThe topic "Part Finishing and Assembly" discusses all issues concerning the process steps following the ge-neral shaping all the way to the finished and ready-to-be-used part. It contains the machines and processes for machining, post treatment, assembly and quality management of composite parts.• Modelling of post processing• Post processing technology• Finishing and assembly structural monitoring• Joining technology• Part machining quality management• Part finishing technology
