One day in spring, the Pilgrims met two Native Americans. They taught the Pilgrims how to grow food and built better homes. The harvest was good, so they had food for winter. They also had warm homes. They wanted to say thank you to their Native American friends. They invited three of them and their families to a special meal. It was the first Thanksgiving dinner. They ate turkey, fish, green beans and soup.
