The Concept for Creation and Development of the National Network
of International Transport Corridors

The aim of the Concept is to define the national transport
system as a component part of international transport corridors and
main lines, to set out the priority objectives for the development
of such a network for the period until 2015 under conditions of the
transition to a market economy and to create it according to the
standards of Pan-European transport network.

One of the priority objectives of the Conception is to promote
on the territory of the Republic of Moldova the concerted
development of transport infrastructure with the purpose of
integrating Euro-Asian transport systems for free movement of goods
and passengers through our national borders.

Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas in the Republic of
Moldova

According to the decisions of the 2nd and the 3rd Pan-European
Transport Conferences, held in Crete in 1994 and in Helsinki in
1997, the territory of the Republic of Moldova is crossed by
Pan-European corridors VII and IX. In addition, our national
transport network is covered with the Black Sea Pan-European
Transport Area.

Moldova is the railway line: the border with Ukraine - Bender -
Chisinau - Ungheni - the border with Romania

The component of Corridor IX on the territory of the Republic of
Moldova is the motorway: the border with Ukraine - Dubasari -
Chisinau - Leuseni - the border with Romania

Black Sea Pan-European Transport Zone in the Republic of
Moldova
IX, : - ( ); - , ( ). includes the above components of Corridor
IX and its branches:the railway one - from Bender via Basarabeasca
to Giurgiulesti (the border with Ukraine and Romania);the motorway
one: from Chisinau via Cimislia, Comrat to Giurgiulesti (the border
with Ukraine and Romania).

(TRACECA) for the Republic of Moldova

It crosses east-west Black Sea and Caspian Sea and connects them
with the Moldavian components of Corridor IX, which reaches the
Black Sea port Odessa: along the railway from the Moldo-Ukrainian
border via Ukrainian stations Kuchurgan and Razdelinaya; along the
motorway Chisinau - Tiraspol - Odessa.

TRACECA perspective in the Republic of Moldova

In prospect the TRACECA route could be extended along the
waterway from the port Odessa to the port complex Giurgiulesti,
which is being constructed on the territory of the Republic of
Moldova in the mouth of the Danube river (our component of Corridor
VII).

Those national main lines that are the components of the
international E-network defined for each mode of transport by the
European agreements AGR, AGC, AGTC, AGN done under the aegis of
UNECE, the party of which is the Republic of Moldova, are to be
included in international transport corridors in the first
place.

According to AGC and AGTC, the territory of the Republic of
Moldova is crossed with 2 main railway lines: north-south oriented
principal line CE-95 along the sector the border with Ukraine -
Bender - Chisinau - Ungheni - the border with Romania and
supplementary line E-560 along the sector Giurgiulesti -
Bender.

According to AGN inland waterways of international importance on
the territory of the Republic of Moldova include 2 branches of
west-east oriented main E-waterways: E 80-07 - the Prut river from
the mouth to Ungheni, E 90-03 - the Nistru river from the port
Belgorod-Dnestrovsky to Bender, including 2 inland navigations
ports of international importance: P 80-62 Giurgiulesti (the
Danube, km 133.0) as planned to be constructed and P 90-03-02

() Corridors and Main Lines of the Organisation for Railways
Co-operation (OSShD)

With a view to create sustainable transport linkages between
Europe and Asia, to extend the application of AGC and AGTC
stipulations to them, to continue the system of Pan-European
transport corridors, the Organisation for Railways Co-operation
(OSShD) has defined 12 railway corridors connecting 25 countries
members of OSShD, situated in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia.
