ISLD 2007 Message Director Europe IASL Dear Ukraine colleagues, It is a pleasure and a great honour to write to you in connection with ISLD 2007, International School Library Day. On this day (which ever date you choose) we are allowed 'to give ourselves a pat on the back' for what we have accomplished, despite lack of funding, materials and support by the school administration and governments. We celebrate the contribution we make to our pupils, our colleagues, our school and the community. And we will experience the results of our efforts by viewing our pupils who work in our libraries and be happy and content with the help we give them. This day provides you with an exquisite opportunity to express yourself and show the world who you are and what you are and that your contribution to pupils, school and community is vital for the development of people in your country. Of course there are many ways to do this but I'm sure you will all find your own way. Surprise yourself and surprise your colleagues, pupils and the school administration. Although in a physical sense I will be far away from you, be sure I will be thinking of you knowing the number of parties and festivities that are going on all over your country. To be a school librarian is something to be proud of. ISLD is your day. Celebrate it and feel yourself supported by thousands of colleagues all over the world. I wish you all a very happy and successful celebration! All information on ISLD 2007 can be found at the website of IASL , the International Association of School Librarianship, like the colourful logo, promotion material, sample letter to promote ISLD in your own region, the ISLD 2007 poster and information on the ‘email around the world project’. Celebrate ISLD in your school library or school media resource centre: your school deserves it! Lourense H. ISLD 2007 Message Director Europe IASL
Dear Ukraine colleagues,
It is a pleasure and a great honour to write to you in connection with ISLD 2007, International School Library Day.
On this day (which ever date you choose) we are allowed 'to give ourselves a pat on the back' for what we have accomplished, despite lack of funding,
materials and support by the school administration and governments. We celebrate the contribution we make to our pupils, our colleagues, our school and
the community. And we will experience the results of our efforts by viewing our pupils who work in our libraries and be happy and content with the help we
give them.
This day provides you with an exquisite opportunity to express yourself and show the world who you are and what you are and that your contribution to
pupils, school and community is vital for the development of people in your country.
Of course there are many ways to do this but I'm sure you will all find your own way. Surprise yourself and surprise your colleagues, pupils and the school
administration.
Although in a physical sense I will be far away from you, be sure I will be thinking of you knowing the number of parties and festivities that are going on all
over your country.
To be a school librarian is something to be proud of. ISLD is your day. Celebrate it and feel yourself supported by thousands of colleagues all over the
world. I wish you all a very happy and successful celebration!
