mm), Narpala(11.0 mm), Agali(10.4 mm), Amarapuram(10.4 mm), Somandepalle(10.4 mm) mandals received mora than 10
mm rainfallmandals can take up sowing of contingency crops like redgram, castor, cowpea, kora, bajra,
horsegram.
Farmers are advised to take up sowing of contingency crops like redgram, castor, cowpea, kora,
bajra, horsegram instead of rainfed groundnut as as there will be yield reduction in late sown crop.
Groundnut
Farmers are advised to go for the spraying of [email protected] ml/l or Imidacloprid 0.3ml/l or Dimethoate @ 2 ml/l for control of sucking pests in groundnut.
Redgram
Farmers can go for sowing of redgram after receipt of sufficient rainfall for sowing.
They are advised to select medium and short duration varieties viz., ICPL 85063, PRG 176, LRG 52 and
sow at closure of 60 x 20 cm
Apply 8kgs of Nitrogen (17 kg Urea) and 20 kg of Phosphorus (125 kg of SSP) per acre at the time of
sowing.
Castor
Farmers are advised to choose high yielding varieties like Kranthi, Haritha, Jwala and sow at closure
spacing of 60/45 x 45 cm
Seed Rate: 2-2.5 kgs/acre
Treat the seed treatment with Thiram or Captan @ 3g/ kg seed.
Korra
Recommended varieties: SIA-3085,SIA 3156, Suryanandi, Srilakshmi and Prasad, Spacing : 22.5 X 7.5 cm Fertilizer:At the time sowing, apply 8kg of Nitrogen and 8 kg of Phosphorus and top dress 8kg of Nitrogen
Spacing : 45 X 12-15 cm Fertilizer: At the time of sowing 30-30-20 kg of Nitrogen, phosphorous and potash respectively as a
basal and 30 DAS 12 kg/acre of Nitrogen should be applied.
Rice
Nursery stage: Iron deficiency was observed in few parts. To avoid this spray Ferrous Sulphate @5gm/lit,
2 times at 7 days interval.
Maize
Inter cultivation should be done with cultivator at 30-35 DAS to avoid the weeds. To avoid the stem borer incidence apply carbofuran granules @ 3kg/acre. Fall army worm and grain pod borer are observed in parts of Raptadumandaland Hindupur division. Control : Farmers are advised to sprayEmamectin benzoate @0.4 ml/lit (or)Thiomethoxam @2.5ml +
Lamda cyahalothrin@1ml / 1 L of water (or) Poision baiting with 10kg of rice bran + 2kg of jiggery +2lit water - keep overnight for fermentation and add 100g of Thiodicarb before 30 min of application.
AGRO METEOROLOGICAL ADVISORY FOR KURNOOL DISTRICT, A P
Farmers are advised to take up sowing of contingency crops like redgram, castor, cowpea, kora, bajra, horsegram instead of rainfed groundnut as as there will be yield reduction in late sown crop.
Groundnut
Farmers are advised to go for the spraying of [email protected] ml/l or Imidacloprid 0.3ml/l or Dimethoate @ 2 ml/l for control of sucking pests in groundnut.
Helicoverpa damage was observed in groundnut. Farmers are advised to go for the spraying of [email protected] ml/l
Redgram

Paddy
Nursery stage: Iron deficiency was observed in few parts. To avoid this spray Ferrous Sulphate @5gm/lit, 2 times at 7 days interval.
Mango
Farmers are advised to cut the dried, diseased branches and take up pruning of branches and apply manures and fertilizers to the plants as this is the suitable time for pruning.
Cotton
Sucking pest incidence was noticed few parts of the district. For the control of the sucking pest stem application of cotton is recommended i.e., Monocrotophos:
water (1:4) @ 30, 45 DAS or Imidachloprid: water(1:20) @60 DAS is recommended.
Pink boll worm incidence was noticed below ETL level, Though farmers are adviced to take the following measures
Pheromone traps should be installed immediately at the field level for monitoring of the incidence levels on community basis.
Observation of rosette flowers and sampling of green bolls should be done regularly for monitoring and intensity of the field incidence.
Destroy rosette flowers and remove the dropped squares, dried flowers and pre-matured bolls to suppress the pest population periodically at the initial stage.
Maize
Inter cultivation should be done with cultivator at 30-35 DAS to avoid the weeds. To avoid the stem borer incidence apply carbofuran granules @ 3kg/acre. Fall army worm and grain pod borer are observed in parts of Nandikotkurmandaland Atmakurdivision .
