For a normal game you need 5 players

You can also play with less players in a “pick-up” game

Another common number to play basketball with is 3

Rule 1: Number of players

2 points: Most common, anywhere in front of the three point arc

1 Point: Free-throw, only time you can get one point

Rule 2: Scoring

Traveling (Moving two steps without dribbling the ball)

Double-Dribble (When you dribble, pick up the ball and dribble again)

Carry (Twisting you hand from the bottom of the ball to the top, hand must stay on top)

Illegal action by one player from one to the another playing on the opposite team.

If contact occurs where there is an unfair advantage is called a foul.

Can be offensive and defensive.

Rule 4: Fouls

Defensive: CANNOT block, push, trip, strike or hold the player

Offensive: CANNOT charge into a stationary defender
