Install TCR 2.1












Verification



Select „Administrator” mode



Specify home details



Ensure that prerequisites are met.



Press install



Configuration assistant shows up

Leave „Perform typical configuration” unchecked



Use default

Make sure „Local Naming” is selected



Enter „Service Name” of your remote Oracle Database Server.

We used ORCL in our case.



Choose „TCP” protocol.



Specify the host name of the database.



Choose „Yes, perform a test” option.



Click „Change Login” button and specify credentials to your database.



Verify that test completes successfully.



For „Net Service Name” use default value which is the same as Service Name.

It was ORCL in our case.

Press next and finish creating configuration.

Finish installation



1) The tnsnames.ora file was created in default location after you finished Oracle Client installer. You can find the tnsnames.ora file in %ORACLE_HOME%/client_1/NETWORK/ADMIN

2) Create TNS_ADMIN system variable and set value to directory above (e.g. c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\NETWORK\ADMIN)

3) Reboot

This step is important for proper configuration












Verification



1) Open IBM Cognos Configuration (TCR)

2) Open IBM Cognos Configuration



1) Copy „Gateway URI” from „IBM Cognos Configuration (from TCR)” to „Gateway URI” in „IBM Cognos Configuration (in Framework Manager)”

2) Copy „External dispatcher URI” from „IBM Cognos Configuration (from TCR)” to „Dispatcher URI for external applications” in „IBM Cognos Configuration (in Framework Manager)”












Verification



Copy the $COLLATION_HOME/etc/reporting/TADDMPackage.zip package from the TADDM server to the TCR_component_dir\Cognos\deployment directory of the Tivoli Common Reporting server



Open Common Reporting in TIP (https://localhost:16311/ibm/console/logon.jsp)

Select „Admin” from „Launch” drop down menu



Go to „Configuration” tab and press „New Import” icon



Select „TADDMPackage” package





Put tick in table next to package symbol
















Verification



Start IBM Cognos 8 Framework Manager.

Create a new project.



Enter credentials for your TCR (TIP) installation.



Enter credentials for your TCR (TIP) installation once again.



1) Close the project.

2) Overwrite model.xml file, from your Cognos Framework project directory, with model.xml from TADDM installation ($COLLATION_HOME/etc/reporting/tcr/model.xml )

3) Start Cognos Framework Manager and open your project



Clear the Schema field in Data Source properties.



1) Save the project

2) Publish model

Configure Data Source in TCR Open „Common Reporting” in TIP

Navigate to „Administration”


Configure Data Source in TCR Select „Configuration” tab

Press „New Data Source”


Configure Data Source in TCR Type „CMDBTCR” in data source name. This data source name is referenced in model

therefore you have to name this data source as „CMDBTCR”.




Configure Data Source in TCR Specify Oracle Database „Service Name” in „SQL*Net connect string”. This is Service Name

you specified in Oracle Net Configuration Assistant in previous steps. If you have forgotten this value you can check this value in %TNS_ADMIN%/tnsnames.ora file

Specify Oracle user and password for your SID
















Verification



Open a command prompt and navigate to TIP_install_dir/tipv2Components/TCRComponent/bin

Run the import commandtrcmd -user userID -password password -import -bulk pkgFilewherepkgFile - the path to the TADDMReports.zip report package file copied to the Tivoli Common Reporting server from $COLLATION_HOME/etc/reporting on the TADDM serveruserID – TIP administrator user id (e.g. tipadmin)password – TIP administrator password












Verification



Make sure the appropriate JDBC driver files are installed in the Tivoli Common Reporting drivers directorytip_install_dir/tip21Components/TCRComponent/lib/birt-runtime-2_2_2/ReportEngine/plugins/ org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc_2.2.2.r22x_v20071206/driversFor Oracle make sure that ojdbc14.jar or ojdbc5.jar is in that directory

Open a command prompt and navigate to tip_install_dir/tip21Components/TCRComponent/bin

Run the list command to list all the available reports and choose the one you want to configuretrcmd -user userID -password password -list -reports

Run the modify commandtrcmd -user userID -password password -modify -datasources -reports -reportname "reportName" -setdatasource odaDriverClass=driverClass odaURL=jdbcUrl odaUser=dbUser odaPassword=dbPassworde.g.:trcmd -user tipadmin -password tipadmin -modify -datasources -reports -reportname "/content/package[@name='Tivoli Products']/folder[@name='TADDM Reports']/report[@name='Unknown Servers Report']" -setdatasource odaDriverClass=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver odaURL=jdbc:jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.168.0.1:1521:orcl odaUser=taddm_dev odaPassword=taddm_dev

Repeat the previous steps for each of the TADDM reports you want to configure

Verification Open Common Reporting in TIP (https://localhost:16311/ibm/console/logon.jsp)

Check if you have „TADDM” and „Tivoli Products” folders


Verification Navigate to „TADDM” folder and run sample Cognos report


Verification Check if Cognos report is rendered without any errors


Verification Navigate to „Tivoli Products” / „TADDM Reports” and run configured BIRT report


Verification Check if BIRT report is rendered without any errors
