Great care has been taken in the design and manufacture of this product to assure that no shock hazard exists on any exposedmetal parts. Internal service operations can expose the technician to hazardous line voltages and accidentally cause thesevoltages to appear on exposed metal parts during repair or reassembly of product components. To prevent this, work on theseproducts should only be performed by those who are thoroughly familiar with the precautions necessary when working on thistype of equipment.
To protect the user, it is required that all enclosure parts and safety interlocks be restored to their original condition and thefollowing tests be performed before returning the product to the owner after any service operation.
Plug the AC line cord directly into a line voltage AC receptacle (do not use an isolation transformer for this test) and turn theproduct on. Connect the network (as shown below) in series with all exposed metal parts and a known earth ground such as awater pipe or conduit. Use an AC Voltmeter of 5,000 ohms per volt or higher sensitivity to measure the voltage drop across thenetwork. Move the network connection to each exposed metal part (metal chassis, screw heads, knobs and control shafts,escutcheon, etc.) and measure the voltage drop across the network. Reverse the line plug and repeat the measurements. Anyreading of 4 volts RMS or more is excessive and indicates a potential shock hazard which must be corrected before returningthe product to the user.

1.AC LINE FILTER BOARD PSH-83D
A Line Filter, a Primary Fuse and a Power Switch are on this board. The L1 Coil and theCondensers C1~C5 are used to el iminate the noise from the power cable as well as to fi l teral l the noises generated from the organ itself. SW1 is a voltage selector. It is set at the proper power voltage.
2. POWER BOARD PSH-72B
This board rectif ies the AC from the Power Transformer EPH-124, and supplies +5V, +6V,+-18V. +5V is mainly used as the power for MGH-98A, +6V is for the tube heater, +-18Vis for the power of the Leslie Output Amp IC and is dropped to +-15V inside MXH-35B and then sent to PAH-75A and MGH-98A.
3. MAIN CPU AND SOUND ENGINE DSP BOARD MGH-98A
This is the Main Board mounted with a CPU, two VASE3's (Sound Engines),DSP, two A/DConverters and three D/A Converters. The Main CPU and VASE3's actuate the constantoscil lation of the Tone Wheels and simulate the voltage change at the multi-contacts.
3-1 MAIN CPU
U1 is the Main CPU (SH7206). This CPU controls al l the functions.It controls VASE3's (Sound Engines) , DSP, etc., as well as the LCD Display, Switch Scan,LED Scan, Key Scan, AD Scan. It can also rewrite the System Program from the CF Card tothe 16M Flash ROM(U2) on the board.
3-2 MAIN MEMORY
The Main Software is stored in the 16Mbit Flash Memory of U2 (29LV160).U8 is a 8Mbit SRAM to which VCC is supplied by the battery and the status of theTemporary Data , the Global and the System Parameter is saved in it.
3-3 SYSTEM RESET
U10 always monitors the +3.3 Volt, and is used for sending the Reset Signal to the MainCPU when the Voltage drops. This circuit is also used for switching the Backup SRAM Power Source to the Battery (BT1) simultaneously.
3-4 VASE3 SOUND ENGINES
U29, U33: The VASE3 Sound Engines are Sound Source LSI's and the number of sounds produced simultaneously is 64 each, i.e. 128 in total. 96 of which are used for the ToneWheel sound sources for UPPER and LOWER, the rest are used for the Pedal, Percussion and Key-click sounds. U29 and U33 read out the Waveform ROM data of U31, and output the sounds pronounced at the keys designated by the Main CPU to Upper, Lower, Percussion, Pedal to DSP through independent channels. These Waveforms above 5KHz have been boosted by 10dB, thus pre-emphasized beforehand, and are returned to flat sound signals through the de-emphasis circuit of the Mixer Board (MXH-35B).

3-5 DSPA high quality DSP run by the Internal Clock 250MHz: Mounted with U36. The DelayMemory is U37: Uses 128Mbit SDRAM. The DSP contains two Blocks. The f irst Blockprocesses Chorus Vibrato, HF and LF Separate Network. This Output is,after D/A conversion and amplif ication at the Tube Overdrive Board (PAH-75A), again A/D converted and input to the second DSP Block. Here the Noise-gate, Tone-control, Expression, Leslie simulation, Reverb effects are added and sent to the Mixer Board, after D/A conversion.
3-6 D/A CONVERTER, A/D CONVERTERU38, 39, 40 are high quality D/A Converters of 24bit Balance Output type. The secondU41, 42, 43 OPAMP, while converting Balanced Signals to Unbalanced Signals, functionas Lowpass Filters for el iminating the Sampling Clock.They cut the signals above 16KHz by 12dB/oct slope. The OPAMP are output through 6 channels: HF, LF, OUT L, OUT R, SEND L, SEND R, butthe SEND R signal is not in use yet. U44 and U45 are 24bit A/D Converters.U44 converts the signals from the Tube Overdrive Board (PAH-75A) and inputs them toDSP. U45 converts the Return Signals from the Mixer Board (MXH-35B) and inputs themto the DSP.
3-7 LCD DISPLAY CONTROLThe Main CPU (U1) controls the LCD Display (20 characters x 2 l ines).
3-8 AD CONTROLThe Main CPU (U1) converts A/D of the Drawbars and Pots via the Multiplexers: U16,17and 18.
3-9 KEY SCAN CONTROLThe Main CPU (U1) scans and takes in the key information via the Buffers: U6, 7 and 28.
3-10 CF CARD CONTROL
The Main CPU (U1) reads and writes the CF Card via the Buffers: U26 and 27.
3-11 SWITCH, LED SCAN CONTROL
The Main CPU (U1) scans the Switch and the LED via the Buffers: U21, 22, 23 and 24.

3-12 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
This board generates 3.3V and 1.2V from 5V voltage with DC-DC converter(U46,U47).
5.VIBRATO MODE SWITCH VRH-35AThis is the Board of the Rotary Switch for selecting C1~C3 Vibrato/Chorus Mode, and isconnected to J111 of MGH-98A. In case it is necessary to replace the board due to themalfunction of the Rotary Switch etc., pull off the knob and remove the nut of the RotarySwitch from the top of the panel, the board is removed inside of the panel. At this time, another Board SWH-516A 2/2 f ixed underneath this board must also be removed.
6.TUBE OVERDRIVE BOARD PAH-75AThis board consists of Triode Tubes V1 12AX7, V2 12AU7, the OPAMP U1, U2, U3, and the Power Circuit (DC 30V) U4 for tubes. The HF and LF signals converted D/A from MGH-98ADSP OUT are input to U1 from J301. The Output signals of U1: the HF signal and LF signal are amplif ied at V1 and V2 respectively and supplied to U2. U2 functions to compensate the signals amplif ied by the tubes to be close to the originalinput Levels. The U2 HF, LF output signals are sent from J301 to the AD Converter of MGH-98A.The Bias Control Voltage (varying rage: 0~3V) input from the CPU of MGH-98Avia J302 is converted to the Tube Bias Voltage (varying range: -3V~2V) at U3A and U3Band then supplied to each Grid of V1 and V2. VR1, VR5 (HF LEVEL), VR2, VR6 (LF LEVEL)prior to U2 input are TRIM POT.'s for el iminating the Level change at the Tube Amp ON/OFF. Refer to "TEST & ADJUSTMENT" for adjustment.
7. MIXER BOARD MXH-35BThis is an Audio Mixer Board, consisting of OPAMP,MUTING RELAY, JACK, etc. The 3-channel Audio Signals sent from MGH-98A cut 20KHz or over at OPAMP U1B, U3A, U3B.The Send Signal (one of the signals) is sent again to the AD Converter of MGH-98A asa Return Signal via JK4, JK5, U4A Output from U1B.The signals are processed by the DSP there and again D/A-converted and supplied fromJ205-8, -10 to U3A and U3B as Main L and Main R signals. These IC's serve also asDe-emphasis Circuits with the characteristics of cutting 20KHz or over as well asboosting 100Hz under by some 10dB. This output is supplied to U6 through theMaster Volume, and that output is sent to the Headphone Jack and the LINE OUT Jack.The Main Rch signal is sent to U5, too, and to the external Leslie via J204, 11 pin connector.When it is connected to an external Leslie here, + Voltage is supplied from the Leslie 11- pin Connector to J204-11 to switch ON Q4, thus LESLIE is detected by Main CPU.As a result, the Main Rch is always detached from the internal Leslie.However, the Main Lch is not disconnected and the internal Leslie functions as it is.U7 and Q7 control the MUTING Relay at Power ON/OFF. Actually, the Relay turns ON 3 to 5seconds later than the power switch ON, but it turns OFF simultaneously when the power is switched OFF, thus preventing the POP noise.

4.PANEL SWITCH BOARDS SWH-516A, 517A, 518A, 519A
Each Switchboard is directly connected with the Main Board (MGH-98A).All the Scan circuits are in the Main Board (MGH-98A), consisting of only Common and respective Switch signals and LED signals.The SWH-516A Board has three Pots; one of which is the Master Volume into whichthe Audio signal is supplied from MXH-35B.The other two are Pots for sending DC to MGH-98A. These circuits are total ly independentof the Switch circuit. The Center Click is in the Pot on the Tone Control side.The SWH-517A Board on the right-hand side of the panel has the Percussion Switch etc.SWH-519A on the far right of the panel has 6 Assignable Pots. The Switch Board on left-End block with the Bender Wheel(SWH-518A) is connected to MGH-98A.

1. INITIALIZATION
A. Turn OFF the power of the XK-3C.B. Holding down the [REC/JUMP] button, turn on the power.C. Keep Pressing the [REC/JUMP] button unti l the "Loading Default...." appears on the display.D. Initial ization is complete when the normal PLAY mode appears on the display.
2. CHECKING THE SOFTWARE VERSION
Check the software version number inside the XK-3C by doing the fol lowing:
A. Turn ON the XK-3C power.B. Press the [MENU/EXIT] button while the mode is the normal PLAY, and switch to the MENU mode. Then select Page E by touching the [PAGE] button. C. If you touch the [2] SYSTEM button, Noisegate/Return Setting mode is displayed.D. Press the [PAGE ] button twice, and the Main Program Version is displayed.E. Next touch the [ > ] button and display the Tone Information Version.F. Again touch the [ > ] button and display the DSP Program Version.G. Next touch the [ > ] button and display the Demo Data Version.H. Then touch the [ > ] button and display the Boot Program Version.
