!ltana0&An important historic village in the region of Sibiu, Altana is home to a fortified church that dates from the 13th century. The village is also home to two unique attractions that we will visit. First, the Gerendi House, which serves as the Cultural Heritage Info Point for the organisation Mioritics, as well as the studio of Silvia Tecoanta, an expert in traditional spinning and weaving. Her workshop is currently nominated as a monument of intangible heritage. Following this we will proceed to the museum of Eugen Vaida, where he will show us his collection of Romanian rural folk artifacts, ranging from costumes to folk tiles.

Apos:The village of Apos is located between the cities of Sibiu and Sighisoara, in the heart of Saxon Transylvania. It is here that GHF and our partners ARTTA and Monumentum are setting up the first of a series of traditional brick and tile kilns to provide materials for the repair and restoration of historic houses throughout the region, as well as much needed employment for the local community. We will visit the progress at the site, see how traditional roof tiles are made and meet with local workers who are now employed at the kiln.

Breite Oak Tree Reserve0&At the end of the day we will visit the Breite Oak Tree Reserve, which has some of the oldest living flora in Transylvania.
