Youth Employment Summit 2002 Hosted by the Government of Egypt in Alexandria,

The Youth Employment Summit 2002 will be hosted by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the City of Alexandria. The Summit will be held from 11-15 September 2002.

Youth Employment Summit 2002

Our Goal: To launch a Global Campaign of Action in

Alexandria, Egypt, so that an additional 500 million young adults, especially youth facing poverty, will

have productive and sustainable livelihoods by the year 2012.

Build a Knowledge Resource on Good Practices, Policies and Programs

Build the Global Alliance for Youth Employment

Engaging youth as partners

Build Global Awareness on the Issue of Youth Unemployment

Consider this... •  There are one billion young

people between 15- 24 years. •  850 million of them live in

developing countries. •  153 million young men and

women are illiterate. •  At least 10 million young

people aged between 10 and 24 years are infected with AIDS.

You Can •  Join the Global Alliance for Youth Employment •  Share the Summit and it’s goals within your communities and at your various meetings • Learn about the needs of youth in your communities • Ensure that youth are included in the microcredit funding programs run by you • Urge your Government to participate in the Global Youth Employment Summit in 2002.

You Can

•  Become a Lead Agency or Information Hub in your Local Community or Country. •  Showcase good practices, programs, policies and strategies. Others could benefit from your ideas.
