ABOUT YMR
Youth Movement Records (YMR) is a youthdevelopment, performing and media artsorganization, which inspires underservedurban youth, ages 13-19, to engage inexperiential learning, leadershipopportunities and positive communityinvolvement. YMR involves youth throughmusic, mentoring and entrepreneurship inorder to reduce violence, develop skillsand create community change.
HISTORY
Founded in 2003, Youth Movement Records was the first organization to use the model of a record label to engage youth in leadership, artistic development and community involvement. YMR engages hundreds of young people annually with project-based workshops and hands-on opportunities to produce original music, events and media. The positive social messages in our CD and video productions, as well as our much needed community events, reach thousands of young people each year.
THE PROGRAMThe Leadership Collective Program is designed to develop young BayArea leaders by providing them with key transferrable skills that wouldbe helpful in any industry or career paths.
Participants will: – Receive mentorship and career coaching– Meet professionals in various industries– Produce events and marketing campaigns– Strengthen their communication skills– Learn organization and stress management techniques– Have an outlet for creative and artistic expression
The Leadership Collective Program participants will also become eligible for internship placement
and stipends after successful evaluations.
REQUIREMENTS• Youth must be between the ages of 13 and 19 years. • Youth must be nominated by an adult (non-relative). • Attend a welcome orientation at the YMR
Headquarters, located within the Historic Fox Theater.• Participants will be required to attend scheduled
meetings once a week, on Monday evenings and expected to commit 2-3 hours/week outside of this time to their designated project.
