The devastating effects of diabetes can be prevented.

Kidney failure, non-traumatic lower-limb amputations, and new cases of blindness.

Heart disease and stroke, which are the first and fourth leading causes of death respectively.

It is the 7th leading cause of death in U.S.

Overall, the risk for death among people with diabetes is about twice that of people of similar age but without diabetes.
