• VAMOS is a magneto-optical filter (MOF)that we are calibratingas a magnetograph to provide thephotospheric context for Space Weatherstudies.
• Calibration is done with a diode lasersystem (upper panel) and consists mainly indetermining the suitable bandpasses of the2 vapour cells, MOF and Wing Selector (WS)which depend on TK (vapour temperature)and Bex (cell magnetic field).
•The final calibration for VAMOS is given inthe lower panel, for both the red and blueline wings.

• The Intensity Effect: The MOF and WSbandpasses depend not only on TK and Bex but alsoon the radiation intensity Iν entering the cell (figureon the right).• We need to account for the Intensity Effect forsolar observation and for modeling the MOF andWS spectral transmission.• This result is to be published in Solar Phyisics.

Workshop - STUDI DI OSSERVAZIONE DELL’UNIVERSO - 25 e 26 marzo 2009
macchie.

Temporal Evolution of Super Active regions:
Complexity and Flare productivity - 2
Criscuoli et al. (A&A, submitted)
During the emerging phase, D8 increases
with time, while Cd and Dd decrease . The
opposite is observed during the decay
phase.
αE has no trend with time (in agreement
with Vlahos&Gergoulis, 2004)
Iv has large variations in correspondence
with bursts of flares.
D8 is the most suitable for Flare
Forecasting over long temporal ranges.
Iv is the most suitable over short temporal
ranges.

PREDICTION OF GEOEFFECTIVE
SOLAR RADIO BURSTS

GOES SXR
algoritmi genetici.
I risultati indicano che le Multi-Layer
Perceptron e le General Regression
NN hanno le migliori prestazioni.
L’inclusione di dati SXR associati non
comporta alcun miglioramento (Molinaro
et. al., COSPAR 2008).
• Uno studio delle caratteristiche
temporali di SRB decimetrici ha
evidenziato l’esigenza di osservazioni
ad altissima risoluzione temporale

Ionospheric signatures of lobe reconnection
