Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking(S19-26)

- WHS Act requires PCBU’s to ensure the H&S of workers, so far as is reasonably practicable.

Workers (S28 Act) - While at work, workers are required to take reasonable care for their

own H&S and that of others who are affected by their actions or omissions.

- Co-operate with any reasonable instruction, policy or procedure of PCBU to comply with WHS Act & Regs and to assist the PCBU to manage risk.

If the worker is required to wear HI Vis - The PCBU has the obligation to ensure it is worn

Pallet racking must be maintained in good order

If damage is present, any pallets stored in the bay

which is damaged should be removed and the

racking should be inspected by a competent

person

Forklift Gas Cylinders

The Good , The Bad and

storing of cylinders Upside

• LPG gas cylinders should be stored

outdoors in a well ventilated area.

• LPG gas cylinders should not be stored

indoors

• LPG storage areas must be free from

sources of ignition.

• LPG cylinders must always be stored

upright so that the pressure relief valve is

in the vapour section of the cylinder.

Some cylinders seem to live

inside buildings

Flammable Liquids (Fuel)

Flammable Liquids must:

• be stored away from sources of ignition

• In a well ventilated area

How safe is your cold room?

• Could you or your workers be trapped

inside

• Does the cold room have an alarm or a

bell to use

• Can the doors can be opened from the

inside without a key - Is there a inside

release mechanism

• Is lighting and a light switch available in

the cold room.

Could you be locked in

Do you have a spanner?

Is this your bell

This is what should be on the

inside of the door

Confined spaces

Cold rooms may not be a confined space

However – if you use an LPG powered

forklift inside the cold room harmful levels of

carbon monoxide can build up

Do you fumigate or use a gas inside a cold

room ? You might be creating a serious risk

What’s Your WLL

Do you store pallets or boxes or stuff on top

of your cold room?

Do you know the Working Load Limit of

your cold room roof?

Or will you load it up until the roof falls in
