INTRODUCTIONSmartphone are changing the way we live

our lives, both online and off. With each new model, we are used to getting more processor speed, new features and programs, and entire new ways of using them. Despite increased capabilities, battery life simply hasn’t kept up.

Imagine sitting down for a cup of coffee, and placing your phone on the table. The phone lights up, and starts to automatically charge – without connectors or cables. 

How does wireless charging work?Also known as inductive charging, is a

convenient and fuss-free way to power up smartphone.

Wireless chargers emit an alternating current via a transmitter coil, which then induces a voltage in the receiver coil found in the device.

Qi wireless charging pads are capable of charging Smartphone, tablets, Bluetooth headsets, cameras and portable power packs.

How do you know if your smartphone is Qi compatible?If you have a wireless charger from Verizon,

your smartphone must be Qi compatible; all wireless charging accessories sold by Verizon are Qi certified.

So how do you know if your phone is Qi compatible? Your device should have a Qi logo on it somewhere, so be sure to check the packaging, the case and the manual.

Qi(inductive power standard)•Qi (pronounced "Chee") is an interface standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium for inductive electrical power transfer over distances of up to 4 cm (1.6 inches).

Nokia launched two Smartphone (the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920) on 5 September 2012, which feature Qi inductive charging.

Now you can boost your Nokia Lumia’s battery without plugging it in. Nokia Lumia 920 has wireless charging built-in. And you can charge Nokia Lumia 820 wirelessly by adding on a wireless charging shell .

chosen app, place phone on the stand and you are in business.

AdvantagesProtected connections - no corrosion when

the electronics are all enclosed, away from water or oxygen in the atmosphere.

Use of separate chargers is eliminated.The need of different types of chargers by

different manufacturers is totally eliminated.Durability - Without the need to constantly

plug and unplug the device, there is significantly less wear and tear on the socket of the device and the attaching cable.

DisadvantagesLower efficiency, waste heat - The main

disadvantages of inductive charging are its lower efficiency and increased resistive heating in comparison to direct contact.

Slower charging - due to the lower efficiency, devices can take longer to charge when supplied power is equal.

More costly - Inductive charging also requires drive electronics and coils in both device and charger, increasing the complexity and cost of manufacturing.

Inconvenience - When a mobile device is connected to a cable, it can be freely moved around and operated while charging. In current implementations of inductive charging , the mobile device must be left on a pad, and thus can't be moved around or easily operated while charging.

ConclusionUse the device application it can wirelessly

charge up the batteries which can save power, time and money in a long run for the general public.
