says Mariam Khan
I don’t know if you remember me Uncle as it has been a long time since we met at PVPS. I want to thank KEF and all those who have selflessly invested their effort, energy and money to provide us with the opportunity for the best education, in my village, that any student anywhere in Pakistan can have. PVPS (grades 1 to 12) teachers pushed me hard and now I have successfully done my BSc and Masters degrees from well known Universities in Islamabad but I want to study further to ‘aspire beyond my potential’ as you inspired us each time you came to see us. I applied to several UK Universities and got admission in all of them. I have always worked hard to help reduce my parents’ financial burden and I’m applying for scholarships, grants, and student loans. Any helpful suggestions from your experience in UK will be appreciated Uncle. Jazakallah Khair. One day I will in-sha’a-Allah return the complement by making a real contribution to KEF – pray for me.”
Thank You
...Thank you Farzana & Karen
Farzana, a qualified and experienced teacher from Bradford has decided to give a year and work for KEF – bless her.
Karen works for the Guardian and has also expressed a wish to go to Pakistan for a year to help out.
WE CAN AND WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE in’sha’a Allah

I saw the video and decided to help Muslim children in Kashmir. They don’t have schools like we have here. I told my mum and then asked the parents who bring their children to my mum’s nursery for help. They all gave money. I was so glad because I was able to give Uncle Cheema a cheque. My father donated £1,000 pounds. My Mum and Dad are from Morocco and I’m so proud of them because they always want to help others......Thank you Shamail
Shamail’s story Why did she decide to help raise funds for KEF?
“I was born to run. When I saw the video ‘from a grain to a pearl’, it became clear which charity to raise funds for this year. I was so pleased when BBC reporter stopped me during the London Marathon to ask me about KEF. I’m sure that helped to increase the amount I was finally able to raise. The KEF team were so appreciative of my efforts – they named the library at SVPS after me. It was great”
.....Thank you Anna
Anna Finn a London schoolteacher ran an incredible seven Marathons over seven consecutive weeks in UK and France to raise funds for KEF
and professional consultancy services to KEF. They spent more than a year in Basali
Village to establish, maintain and develop the child centred teacher development
programme at our College for Teacher Education (CTE). Recently they raised 1,600
Euros for KEF in France. Keith and Ellen are among an increasing circle of friends of
KEF who are making a difference.
Rev Roger Preece from Bowden Church brought a
cheque for a generous donation for KEF at last
year’s fund raising dinner at Bradford Hilton Hotel.
The Bowden Church community regularly supports
KEF because as Rev Roger said “they care”.
The Acklam Grange School community in Middlesbrough UK generously donated a
variety of equipment to KEF - including interactive whiteboards, projectors, flat screen
PCs, laptops, security cameras, and graphic calculators. We thank you most sincerely
for your continuous support.
Riffat Raza is an EAL teacher who travels from London each year with her family to
attend our fund raising dinner in Bradford. Her son Salman Ibrahim Raza is a Yr 11
student and is a regular funds and awareness raiser for KEF. We are blessed with
many more regular supporters who are helping us to make an impact in the lives of
thousands of deserving children in remote areas of AJK and Pakistan. For example
Salima a qualified teacher from UK worked for six months as a KEF volunteer. Similarly
Farzana another teacher from Bradford and Karen from London have expressed a
wish to go as volunteers to make a very valued professional contribution. If you know
someone who wants to volunteer get in touch with Akram Khan-Cheema Deputy
Chairman KEF UK?
.....Thank you Keith & Ellen
Dr Keith Ross and Ellen Rugen donated their time
.....Thank you Bowden Church
Is it because KEF: -
• Selects children from disadvantaged families in rural areas who will grow up to become better leaders of tomorrow.
• Develops facilities to create opportunities in remote areas to educate children to the highest standards possible so that they too can achieve their potential and support their families in breaking through the poverty cycle
• Trains and upskills local teachers and female graduates from villages who can then provide quality education to thousands of deserving children
• Admits children based on their potential to take advantage of the Advanced Cognitive levels of Performance and their learning capability without consideration to their financial status
• Actively promotes female literacy – by reserving places for more girls in KEF schools and selecting female graduates from remote villages for teacher development programmes at CTE
• Has maintained its standards by achieving highest GPA in Matric Exams. For example PVPS has always stood FIRST position in entire AJ&K in HSSC Board Exams between 2005 and 2013 our SSC Board Results have been outstanding with 96.92% securing A1 or A grades and only 3% getting a B grade with none below that.
• KEF graduates secure placements in the best Universities and are proving to be excellent role models for the younger generations not just from remote rural communities but for every child – masha’Allah
KEF is among a handful of organisations to be awarded a seal of NPO good practice validation by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP). PCP only certifies those organisations able to conform to internationally acceptable high standards in internal governance programme delivery and comply with transparent accountability of their financial management system.
Why will you decide to help and support KEF educational projects?
