Andrew Kohler, Land Management Specialist, St Johns River Water Management District

Increasing Stakeholder Participation in Recreation PlanningThe St. Johns River Water Management District purchased the 300 acre

Wheeler property to construct stormwater treatment facilities and wetland restoration areas. The main purpose of this project is to reduce

pollutants that were previously released into the Indian River Lagoon system. Much of the construction has been completed and plans for

opening the property as an area for passive public use are in progress. The purpose of this practicum was to use NRLI techniques to include

and engage as many stakeholders as possible in the final steps of construction, management and recreational planning.
