What is Cloud Computing?

To storing and  accessing data and programs over the Internet instead of your computer's hard drive.

Process of cloud computing

History of Cloud Computing

The origin of the term cloud computing is unclear.

The actual term "cloud" borrows from telephony.  Telecommunications companies, who until the 1990s primarily offered  point-to-point data circuits, began offering Virtual Private Network (VPN) services with a comparable quality of service but at a much lower cost.

They used the cloud symbol to mark the point between the infrastructure that was the responsibility of the provider, and where the user took over. Cloud computing extends this boundary to cover servers as well as the network infrastructure. The first scholarly use of the term “cloud computing” was in a 1997 lecture by Ramnath Chellappa.

let's say your company required 13 physical systems to run your sites and applications. With virtualization, you can take those 13 distinct systems and split them up between two physical nodes. Obviously, this kind of environment saves on infrastructure costs and minimizes the amount of actual hardware you would need to meet your company's needs.

How Cloud Computing Work

How does Cloud Computing Work

Cloud computing is to apply traditional supercomputing, or high-performance computing power, normally used by military and research facilities, to perform tens of trillions of computations per second, in consumer-oriented applications such as financial portfolios, to deliver personalized information, to provide data storage or to power large, immersive computer games.

It seems that everyone with a computer spends a lot of time acquiring data and then trying to find a way to store it.

• On the surface, cloud storage has several advantages over traditional data storage. For example, if you store your data on a cloud storage system, you'll be able to get to that data from any location that has Internet access. You wouldn't need to carry around a physical storage device or use the same computer to save and retrieve your information. With the right storage system, you could even allow other people to access the data, turning a personal project into a collaborative effort.

Advantage of Cloud Computing

Advantage of Cloud Computing Lower cost computer for users Lower IT infrastructure cost Fewer maintenance cost Lower Software Cost Increased computing Power Unlimited storage capacity

Disadvantage of cloud computing Require a constant Internet Connection Require High Speed Internet connection Stored Data Might Not Be Secure
