,The Changing landscape of GCSE

•Controlled Assessments•Move from modular to linear exams – exams to be taken at the end of the course exams restricted to Summer entry only•So no Module re-sits •Only re-sit opportunities in November for English and Maths•Spelling, punctuation and grammar marks now awarded in English Literature, Geography, History, RE and even in Maths some questions will explicitly assess the quality of written communication

GCSE English Language and LiteratureTwo GCSEs A combination of controlled assessment and exams.Year ten mainly focuses on English Language. We complete Unit Three Controlled Assessment – Understanding Spoken and Written Texts and Writing Creatively.The focus is on developing reading and writing skills; offering interpretations of texts and developing the ability to craft our own writing.

Maths•Whole course examined in one week at the end of year 11•No coursework or controlled assessment
