The importance of Year 2...

• Becoming more independent • Getting ready for SATs• Getting ready to move up into

Year 3

A good start to the day

• Are you ready?

Reading at school...

• Teachers and Teaching Assistants will read with your children at school.

• Later on in the year your children will begin Guided Reading (with Miss Reed).

Reading at home...

• In Year Two we ask that your child reads 2-3 pages each time.

• Discussion is the key! – What might happen next?– Which character do you like best? Why?– Can you see any ‘sounds’ you have been learning

at school in these words?

If you want to read more...

- Choose a larger book from home that can be read over a period of time.

- Visit the local library.- Encourage and support your child to read

everything around them: back of cereal packs, instructions for making things, posters, signs, leaflets, etc...

Any Helpers?

• One to One Reading once a week with the class.• Trips!

Home/School AgreementYour child will be writing their statement for the

Home/School Agreement, then it will come home to you to sign and return to school.
