Welcome to Austin! AAHA Learning Facilitators

Remember Interactivity is Key to Adult Learning

• Be interactive• Ask questions• Encourage small group discussions• Pause and repeat key points• Give stand and stretch breaks during your

presentation

• Have fun, play games, joke with attendees • Include take home points • Give time to make a take home plan • Please do not talk about the session length

in a negative way. Make it a positive experience and use the length to your advantage.

Peer Conversation Time

• Your sessions are 1 hour and 40 minutes, this allows time for you to stop during the session, take a break, and allow for questions and answers rather than doing it all at the end.

• Use the longer session time for question and answer time, games covering what you just taught, encouraging small group discussions, or other interactive exercises you may think of.

• This personal touch is what makes the AAHA difference and keeps attendees engaged.

monitoring multiple session rooms – There will be several Monitor Support Stations

throughout the meeting room areas

• All learning facilitators will need to introduce themselves to the attendees and give a brief biography

• Please announce:– Your track name– Your session title – Your 7 digit session number for each session for

evaluation purposes – Acknowledge the sponsor of the session if applicable – We will supply announcements to be read by learning

facilitators

• If handouts were supplied for the session they will be delivered to your session room. Please let attendees know they are available

• Members of the AAHA staff will be circulating throughout the session rooms and checking in on each room

• If you have problems with room lighting, temperature, or any other needs please make contact with an AAHA staff member

In Case of Emergency • In the case of an emergency that you may encounter,

find an AAHA staff member at a Monitor Support Station or any staff member wearing an AAHA badge. DO NOT CALL 911 on your cell phone.

• Be prepared to let us know the exact room location where the emergency is

• Also be aware of where the nearest emergency exit is• If you have any other issues please contact a Monitor

Support Station staff member

If You Need Help • Education staff members will continually check in

with each meeting room and observe different presentations, they will also be available in the Learning Facilitator Room.
