    The NSS volunteers plantedsome rare endemic plants in thecollege campus as well as in thecollege botanical garden.Several students took part inthe online poster presentationsto mark the WorldConservation Day with focuson the theme.     STATE TIMES NEWSDODA: Advisor toLieutenant Governor, BaseerAhmed Khan, today visitedDoda and inspected variousdevelopment works being exe-cuted under various schemesof Rural DevelopmentDepartment including MGN-REGA and PMAY.

    Advisor also met with vari-ous PRI and ULB represen-tatives besides members ofvarious political parties andtook stock of their issues andconcerns.

    Advisor, during his tour tothe district, visited MalhoriPanchayat of Khaleni blockand inspected the ongoingworks on a path being con-structed from Ragi to Bati.

    He interacted with the localpeople and had feedbackabout the development activi-ties going on in their area.

    He also visited Paryote pan-chayat and inspected theongoing works on an irriga-tion pond, sewerage drainand a PMAY house.

    While interacting with the

    locals, Advisor enquiredabout their grievances anddevelopment needs besidestaking stock of status of vari-ous schemes being imple-mented in the area.

    Advisor directed the con-cerned departments to ensuretimely completion of all devel-opment works besides ensur-

    STATE TIMES NEWSBHADARWAH: A team offorest officials from ForestDivision Bhadarwah in Dodadistrict, who were on theirroutine duty to check the for-est loss if any in TantaPanchayat of Kahara Tehsilwere attacked by a moballegedly led by the proxySarpanch (husband ofSarpanch) of the Panchayatat Draman village.

    According to reports, theteam led by block InchargeIjaz Zargar along with threeforest guards and helpers onthe directions of InchargeDFO Bhadarwah NavneetSingh were verifying a reportabout the illegal activities inthe forest area, when theywere suddenly attacked by amob at Draman village fromthe house of Sarpanch.

    In the attack forest guardMukesh Kotwal got seriouslyinjured while 2 other officialsalso received injuries.

    Meanwhile an FIR number51/ 2020 has been lodged anda case registered at PoliceStation Gandoh under sec-tions 353, 336, 332, 504 and506 IPC.

    When contacted SDPOGandoh Nawaz MohdKhanday, said, "We received acomplaint from the Inchargeof Forest team fromDramman village of Kaharathat some villagers have madethem hostage in the area.

    Acting on the complaint, Ifirstly sent 3 police teamsfrom nearby police posts torescue forest officials from thevillagers and simultaneouslylodged an FIR at PS Gandohunder relevant sections ofIPC against the persons men-tioned in the complaint. "

    "We are investigating thematter on priorities as theyhave manhandled and madehostage on Duty Governmentofficials who were in uniform,"Khanday added, saying thatstrict action under law will betaken against all the accusedpersons involved in this grue-some incident.

    Meanwhile social and politi-cal organisations have alsocondemned the brutal attackon forest officials anddemanded that PSA shouldbe slapped on them especiallyagainst the proxy Sarpanchof the area.

    "This is an unfortunate inci-dent and should not be takenlightly as during Covid-19

    epidemic it is already a her-culean task to man the vastforests and if the officials areattacked like this then howcan one perform his duty. Wedemand that the goonsshould be booked underPSA," said Ayoub Zarger,Chairman EducationalEnvironmental Social Sportsand Cultural SocietyBhalessa.

    "We have already raised ourconcerns about the notoriousactivities of the proxy PRI(Panchayti Raj Institution)members and also written tohonorable Lieutenant-Governor about this unlawfulactivity going on under thenose of administration andthis attack on forest officialsis the proof of these elements.Strict action should be initi-ated and offenders should beput behind the bars to savethese democratic institu-tions," said RashidChoudhary, District YouthPresident JKNPP.
