What is Social Media?

• Conversations that are taking place online through the use of online tools

What is Twitter?

• Popularized by what is known as “micro-blogging”– Communications Occurs via “Tweets”: text-based

posts of up to 140 characters– Users receive updates from other people’s Twitter

feed by following them; other twitter users can subscribe to your tweets by following you.

Who uses Twitter

• 25% of Twitter users are black• Twitter is a great way to broaden your

audience, participate in conversations about issues that effect your community, and get the word out about events and campaigns your branch is working on

• Mention: Use when one user wants to directly reply or refer to another user
