Objective: This assignment is a way to prepare you for many different aspects of AP Human Geography. You will be held accountable for this assignment; it will be the first grade of the quarter. Failure to complete the summer assignment may result in being dismissed from the course. I. AP Human Geography BinderYour first task is to acquire a three ring binder for your summer assignments as well as keeping organized during the school year. The following assignments need to be collected in your binder and will be checked for completion on the first day of class.
II. Vocabulary Words: Must be hand writtenThe first section of your binder should be for vocabulary words. It is imperative to increase your vocabulary in Human Geography. A list of vocabulary words from the first unit is provided. Define the word and make sure it is a geographical definition.
III. Why Geography? The second section of your binder is Why Geography. Read the provided article, Why Geography? Highlight the main points that help answer the question – Why Geography? Type a 3 paragraph essay that explains your response to that question. .
IV. Map SectionThe third section of your binder will be for the provided maps. The maps do not need to be filled out, they are for reference only. These maps are provided as a resource to help you study for you map quizzes which will be given during the first semester based on the schedule below. The dates for the map quizzes will be determined throughout the semester.

For each reflection focus on Who, What, When, Where, and Why/Significant. Reflections need to be in complete sentences, one to two paragraphs is sufficient. Be sure to site your sources.
